If you have stock bulbs, then they are probably much better. I already had LEDs and was looking for something better.
Like I said earlier, for me they didn't make a difference.

well i stand somewhat corrected, i removed em, turned around then reinstalled & now they seem ok. my guess is they werent seated properly. while im not sure these are 1600L per bulb, i will say that they are bright at a low & short distance of the vec. , but for me, they just dont throw light far and high enough straight back. im gunna try the round JDM astar (rated at 1000l per bulb)ones with lenses to see if they provide a more flood beam pattern a bit higher.

I was just looking at adding aux lighting, will try my hand at these before having to do a bunch of wiring :becky:
this is valid criticism I think. but with the other bulbs I tried I literally could not see a tHING off the corners, and again I say it is just bad placement and bad lenses, and bad sizing/shape for the b/up lights. And to the point above about the color, yes they are bluish, and with any twilight or early morning 'first light' you'll think they are fading. in pitch dark they work like magic and I stand by that. first time I ever saw anything 6 or 7 feet perpendicular to the rear corners. Out the back windshield, who can see anything? not me. too small, can't see down anyways.
btw I hate the rearview mirror. blind visceral hatred

Picked up a set myself as an easy upgrade and was very impressed. Though I'm fairly certain that the old bulbs are 10 year old originals, so it's an easy step up from there.

As I recall, when installing LED lamps, most manufacturers warn that the contacts on the LED lamps are polarity specific (unlike the oem filament style). If you install them with the polarity wrong they will either not work, or not be as bright as they should be. Most likely, when you initially installed them, the polarity was wrong and you corrected it when you removed and rotated them.

i agree if your coming from the stock factory bulbs these are a good improvement but like DMV4runner i already had leds in the reverse so these werent much if any improvement over those. i have aux light pods mounted under bumper aimed down & to the side for those areas, what i want is something a bit higher & straight back since i use my rear view mirror but i dont want to wire in another set of aux lights on the hitch so i just may look into what riceandpho suggested & do the tail as turn + backup mod from diode dynamics. i like to cover all bases & not rely on any one thing so i also have rear sonar sensors & backup cam. overkill? maybe, but at least i have it if/when i need it.

I got mine in the other day and the difference is definitely huge. I had previously tried some Phillips bulbs that were pretty worthless. Are we sure these are polarity sensitive? I guess it's possible that I got them both right on the first try, but I don't know about those odds.

I had led's in and was not impressed, yes they were not yellow and they were brighter but like I said not impressed.
then I ordered these, side view mirrors a bit brighter, but in the backup camera its a different story. its like watching daytime tv. no issues whatsoever!

am fairly certain the are not polarity sensitive, i put them in my runner and my 04 4banger, and they all worked on the first attempt, the odds of getting that right on 2 vehicles is pretty slim.
the made a great improvement over the white leds i had before. the lights appear to be white, no bluish tint, so guessing 6000k
super bright on the reverse camera!, well spent 15bucks
new leds on the left . old leds [led interior kit] right, the difference is massive

I ordered these and put them in last week. They made a huge difference, especially in my backup camera! Pretty freakin' awesome. Also, FWIW, I did try to test whether they were polarity sensitive and I didn't notice a difference in their brightness between the different orientations.

Very cool. I installed mine about a week ago, and they definitely made a difference! I actually did one side, then tested them to see the difference. It was pretty amazing how much whiter and brighter the new LED side was! Thanks for the heads up on these!
