Finally got behind the wheel :)

I finally got behind the wheel of a 2012 4Runner today, and I must say I absolutely loved it. I decided a while ago that I wanted the Trail model. I kept reading great things about KDSS, loved the styling of the trail, and I want Shoreline Blue which is not available in an SR5. Because of this I had been waiting to test drive until I could get to a Trail Edition.

Well finally today I made the couple hour trek to a dealer that had a TE in stock (Mag Gray). The salesman at Germain Toyota in Columbus, OH was great. He let me and a couple friends take the car out on our own. After he gave me a quick rundown of the features and the stereo/nav setup, we were on our way.

I took it on the highway and was worried that the hood vibration I keep reading about would bother the hell out of me. But, I barely noticed it...probably wouldn't have if I hadn't read about it on here. Overall I have to say that this Trail Edition with the KDSS rides like a dream. My daily driver for the past 10 years has been my 2002 SR5 Sport (195,000 miles), and I could hardly believe the difference in ride between these two vehicles. Just simply a great ride.

My friends raved about how much better the leg room in the back was. We all loved listening to tunes via the Bluetooth which only took me a minute or two to connect to my Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

As somebody who uses his vehicle for tailgating at football games multiple times a year I definitely think the sliding cargo tray has some value. Love the party mode as well.

All in all, I'm definitely sold on this vehicle. Now the fun part comes. I thanked the salesman for letting me take it out, but told him I still wanted to do some more looking around. What I'm looking for, though, is this same vehicle in Shoreline Blue. It's time to start calling some dealers and seeing what they can find for me. Pretty excited though, as I definitely loved my time in this vehicle. Can't wait to find one to call my own.

Is the TE available in Shoreline Blue for 2012? The "Build my Toyota" web site for my zip code doesn't list the color as an option. I know it was available as a 2011 model, so may be you can find a 2011 holdover at a dealer somewhere.

If that dealer treated you well, why not give him a shot at a purchase price, then let him find it for you?

I most certainly will be doing that.

As to the availability of Shoreline Blue in 2012, I don't know. Some regions don't show it available on the Build Your Toyota (Mine doesn't either), but I know there are a couple of them available on various dealer lots throughout the country.

For the price I'm willing to spend I definitely want to get exactly what I want. I really like the Salsa Red as well (also doesn't show on the Build website for my region in 2012), but I prefer the blue, so that's what I'm going to hold out for.
