Finally......I'm lifted

Got my OME 881/890 coils and OME shocks in a week ago, and needless to say I couldnt wait to get them on. So this weekend my brother and I made the attempt to do it ourselves. After a few runs to get autozone for some deep sockets, it all came together. Overall took about 6 hours to do, rears went on with out any problems, took us a while to figure out how to get the front lower shock bolt stabbed on the front, but once we figured it out the other side when on like a breeze.

Thanks for the solid advice; Baja Runner & 4runsport.

I know I am going to catch flak about the running boards, but until i can figure out some other sort of step into the cab they will have to remain. There is no way my wife (5'-0" tall) will ever be able to climb in there with out them. I am open to suggestions, but would like to do the sliders with the steps (kind of like what you see on some of the FJ's).

New Tires are right around the corner, thinking about going with the Nitto Terra Grapplers 285/75/R16's

Looks good! The tires are going to make a HUGE difference.

And what's the big deal for the gf? Mine is 5'2". I just made her hop up in there in the time between taking my running boards off and actually welding my sliders on. :thumb3:

I agree. Looks good. You should be happy with those tires in our area.

BTW Hepar, there is a BIG difference between wife and gf :)

So I have been driving with the lift for a week now, and absolutely love it. I must say I didn't expect it to ride quite so stiff for having an additional 3" of suspension.

Here are my pre & post measurements:
Before: FD-33.75, FP-34, RD-33.625, RP-33.5
After (w/ new tires): FD-38.625, FP-38.625, RD-38, RP-38.625

I figured the difference in the rear would be due to the full tank of gas I currently have in it. I did get under and verify the A coil was installed under the RD's side (left the tag on the coil :))

Also got my 285's installed today, pics to come.....:thumb3:

Dude my wife is 5"0" tall also, it is actually easier for her to hop in without the running boards than it was to crawl up and over them. Take the passenger side off and have her try it out. Only takes a few minutes to do?

So here it is, not a fancy shot but just hanging in the parking lot at work......Little amazed how much it is higher it sits than what the pictures represent. Also I am happy to mention the tires are close to the UBJ, but have 1/2" of clearance, and i dont rub any of the fenders/flares.

So looking from the back end with the 890's having a height difference of 5/8", is it that noticeable?

Truck looks great nonetheless.

Thanks Man, Im loveing it, kind of like having a whole new rig....

Not at all, actually when i measured it up i had to double check, stand back, scratch my head, and measure it again. Really not sure what is causing that. I actually kept the "A" tag on the rear coil as to not confuse the location. Even double checked that.....it is beyond me why it sits lower. but to answer your question no it isn't noticeable.
