Finally made it down to Moab

I've been talking about Moab since I first bought the T4R in Feb of this year and my brother and I finally made it down there for a couple days.
My truck is mostly stock, save some Moog talls, rock sliders and better tires. While not completely necessary where we went, I was glad to have the factory rear locker as well.

We did Fins & Things and Hell's Revenge (bypassing the super aggressive points like Hell's gate and the Escalator.) We had our share of hair raising moments though (like spinning all 4 tires up Frenchie's Fin! )
and the little 3rd Gen performed like an absolute champ. Definitely left our mark with the trailer hitch however! Anyway, good times and great scenery. Will be back sometime for sure. -Justin :biggrin1:

Nice and easy down the steps. Decent flex out of the Moog talls.

Coming out of Hell's Revenge, rear tire is a few inches off the ground.

I am so mad at myself...I was there in April with my 2000 limited and figured my wife would kill me if I took it over anything she deemed crazy...which is practically everything. If I had brought my 1999 I would have tried fins and things given that everyone says stockers can handle it.

I did fins and things with the wife and family this year. I wanted to finish up with Hells REvenge but we took way to much time on Fins.

I even left my mark with my toe hitch. Im sure you left quite a bit. The trails are so much fun and have so much traction. Not like the granite rock in CO.

Fins was easy but one of the best trails I have ever driven. It was like driving on mars or something.

It was a great trip. Really no problem for a stockish rig. The tow hitch will touch down a fair bit but I figure it's protecting the rear bumper so no biggie. I'd say that Fins was less technical and more relaxing/fun, while HR was more technical/pucker factor in some places but still a ton of fun. And of course the views are amazing.

A few tips if you're planning the trip:
1. Make sure your truck is in good running order for peace of mind. Don't want to break a lower ball joint out on the trail.
2. Air down to 18-19 PSI
3. Bring a good camera with a full battery and lots of memory!

Also give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the ride. We spent about half a day on HR. Not something you'd want to do if you were feeling rushed and had to be somewhere. Luckily the trails were pretty much empty for us so we could go at any pace. When the occasional side by side came along we just waved them past.

Anyway, highly recommended if you are considering a trip to this area.

This trip is on my bucket list. Living in South Mississippi it’s going to take some planning but I’m determined to see these views in person!
