First 4x4 trip - first recovery

made my first 4x4 trip yesterday since joining the T4R family and made my first recovery! felt good helping out someone in need! even better I made a new 4x4 friend!

It's funny because last time I was out on the beach there was a stuck jeep too. Driver had a shovel (good start) but that was it...His friends were in the back pushing... Digging.... Pushing, digging...You get the drift. I drove up and offered to help stating that I had a recovery strap and could give them a tug. They looked at me for a second and said they were good. Lol OK have fun.

Someone on here had mentioned how they had a jeep refuse to be recovered because he wasn't also driving a jeep. Thought no way people could be that irrational, but hey, it's a jeep thing lol.

Yep, that's happened to me with jeeps and some Ford and Chevy drivers I've come across stuck. Uh, ok, have fun. Honestly most folks are cool and just want some help. I never mind lending a helping hand because I've been stuck many times before and always appreciated when someone comes along to tug me out.

I'm also waiting for the stuck jeep pics.
 
LOL, no pics of the jeep while stuck but that green jeep is the one. honestly he couldn't have been nicer. that's him and his little girl in the distance.
 
Helped one a while back, had my son get the photo. It was a good feeling to help. He was not a real jeeper, it was a rental.

New York, Bay on Long Island

Given your location, I take it the photo is from somewhere on Long Island. I believe there are lots of little bays and shelters on the inland side. From a book I read recently, "Washington's Spies", from which the TV series "Turn" was made, I saw a map of Long Island and the inlets. Can you tell us where this was shot? It appears to be an inlet to a very large bay. Thanks for any info you can give us.

I ride motorcycles too and there are a few brand snobs in that sport as well. :shrug: Its really kind of sad. I guess if you're going to be picky about who helps you if you get stuck, you either need to learn not to get stuck, or carry the supplies you need to get yourself unstuck.
 
I'm sort of new to this sport, but in off-road motorcycling, if someone falls off the bike, as long as they're not hurt, we ALWAYS get a photo before helping them. I guess off-roaders don't do that...
 
I helped 2 guys in a Raptor and they were really weird about it. I'm still mad at my son for not getting a photo of my little mid size suv recovering him.

I'll be at Sore Thumb and Democrat point all summer long in my 4runner and Land Cruiser. Looks like you are further out east here but maybe wee you out there. Glad to hear you got out with the truck and glad to see I am not the only one that helps others out on the sand.
