No. If there were ever retractable steps that would operate as sliders, they would be powered by hydraulic pistons and reduce Toyota's load capacity to less than 5 skinny passengers.

It looks like they are from Amp Research or Bestop. I tried to see if I could make a Tacoma set fit on a 4r, but then the 12's came with them from the factory.

They look like they fold. Flush in first few pics. Down in the later one's. Then again, two different rides.

As to the rest of your comment, navigator has retractable steeps without compromising interior space. Granted not sliders, but why the hell not.

Man that thing is hideous....The seats insert are pimp my ride, the unusable cargo space area with non existent rear view because it blocked makes the rear slide down window useless also. The usuless retracting side steps which will get frozen/packed with snow mud and will stop working once faced with serious conditions. The big sticking out "O" on the door panels look like they have been glued on. Oh cool we got a grill at the back....let me get some meat to make steaks or at least a hot dog...oh wait?! there is no Fridge/freezer or bread or plates/forks/spices to it the meat with or on.
The keureg coffee maker is the worst...again lets have coffee, so where are the cartridges for the coffee maker and also where are the cups with spoons, sugar/milk and the best one is where is the water storage container with handy hose that you could pour the water into the coffee machine with. I got better coffee maker at home, that one there is $99 at local wal mart! To make everything glue together...lets slap ridiculous amount of LED bard and we got a "winner"........jesus,,,,,,,

Obviously the designers never used or have been on overland trips. The second you introduce any kind of food cooking/drink making equipment/element to the vehicle you need something like ARB fridge/freezer, water supply and a small pantry consisting of anything from paper towels to utensils to spices and plates and such.

Ill take rims and tires of that rig...the rest can be set on fire. Thanks

I think what most of you guys are missing here is the concept of the build. Sure there are some things that people don't like, but this isn't a production vehicle. It's not even a concept vehicle. It's a custom build for a specific purpose.

Even I appreciate the lowered 4x4 if it's done properly. I can appreciate the quality of labor that go into bagging a truck. I can appreciate the quality of body work and paint that go into a custom paint job. I may not like the scheme of the paint, but I can appreciate the quality.

It's all for show and as far as I'm concerned, it's at a show I wish I was at right now.

That is not gorgeous. That's about most un4Runnerish 4Runner I've ever seen. You could do that what that truck is "built" for with the most car-like Crap Utility Vehicle out there.

It's a crime, and I think it shows exactly who Toyota thinks their target sales demographic is and what we can expect for the 6th gen. Assuming the 6th gen isn't just a Toyota Highlander, 4Runner Edition.
