Got my 4Runner last week and am bringing it to Off Road Warehouse (San Diego) to do a bilstein leveling on it. Discount Tire will give me a $100 credit per tire for my factory tires so I am going to upgrade to some Nittos or Bridgestone A/Ts--am shooting for 285s although I know I will need to do some trimming as they will rub--not sure if I will go with the factory wheels or not--I like the old school MTs with the circle cut outs so I may go that route. And so it begins....

I have an old 2013. I set the Bilsteins to 0.85 and it's almost level. Going to 1.75 may be a good level, but it may go nose high, reverse rake when loaded. You could add air bags, but may have to change the pressure too often. The photo is at 0.85.
The rear was 1 inch higher than the front after the front Bilsteins; when I added 5100s to the rear recently it's 1 1/4 higher in the rear. I have 6 pounds in the Airlifts.
Enjoy your new trail, get it off-road where it belongs.

I did not get the KDSS; ORW is doing the bilstein setup such that it will not affect the geometry of the vehicle; I think he mentioned doing something to the driveshaft or adding a component that prevents the geometry from being screwed up. I will post before and after pix for sure. I hate the street tires that came with my ride--those are the next to be changed! m

My apologies for going off topic, but your comment on the $100. credit at Discount Tire struck me for a couple or reasons. I picked up a new '13 TE and wanted to swap the stock Bridgestones for Nitto Terra Grapplers in the same size.
I ordered Weather Techs, OEM running boards, LED interior bulbs, and got a quote from my installer on 3M film protection for the front end. However when I called the local Discount Tire place, I was shocked to hear the salesman say they only give about $50. for take offs. I have no previous experience trading a tire, so I just put the idea on back burner.
Anyone think I was given the runaround, or have any suggestions ??

Sorry for late reply Maz--Discount Tire does not have a set policy re trade in value of tires. The DT in Point Loma would only give me $60 per tire--I told him that the DT in Kearny Mesa area agreed to give me $100 per tire and he replied that every store is different and that it may mean that the DT in Kearny Mesa area could sell the stock tires more easily for that market area. Anyway, I got the $400 trade when I got the 285 BFG. The guys were great and did the slght triming it needed up fornt---no rubbing whatsoever now! m
