Fixture question...

In a thread below, I'd mentioned that I'm replacing a lost mirror in my passenger side unit. Well, I just picked up a replacement mirror on ebay:

And I realized I have no idea if what's in the housing unit right now is everything I need besides the glass. To put it another way, is this the only thing between the glass and the motor, or is there some plate or other interface that came off with my mirror I don't know about??

That white piece is the mirror assembly that holds the mirror glass. When it happened to me, I didn't have that piece, that's why I couldn't replace just the mirror glass...I had to replace the entire assembly.

I'm sorry...I don't know exactly how the mirror glass goes on. I'll ask my buddy tomorrow, he's done it on a Honda Accord & I'm sure it's similar.

'03 Limited broken passenger side mirror (glass popped out)

Hi All,

I did a thread search for mirrors and came across this issue which was posted about a year ago. I have the exact same issue as the thread starter. My passenger side mirror on my '03 Limited popped out after the connector that is glued behind the glass broke in several spots and popped out of the bracket (the white piece pictured) inside the mirror housing.

Was this issue ever resolved and, if so, how? I bought the glass replacement off of ebay, but it is missing the piece which is glued to the glass that connects to the housing. So, in a nutshell, my mirror currently looks identical to what is pictured in the original post and all I have is the glass mirror with adhesive patches that can't connect. Pretty stupid on my part, but I thought it might come with the piece that connects. The dealer quoted me in the $200 range to have this repaired, but I'd prefer to save some coin and do it myself. Do I need to pay for a new heated mirror assembly? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I ended up having the whole thing replaced at the dealer. Luckily my car insurance provider (who's fantastic) alots me three glass replacements a year in case of suck incidentals.

Hey BB,

Yeah, that's kinda my problem. My insurance deductable is $500 and it's not going to cost that much to have the mirror replaced at a shop... so I'm basically screwed and have to fix it myself. Do you know if there is any way to just replace the glass without having to buy an entire new mirror assembly? It just seems like there has to be a way to do this. Thanks again.
