FJ Rims on a 3rd Gen?

One of my good friends bought a set of FJ rims last year on craigslist hoping to make a quick turnover.

he paid $150 for the full set, I bought them for $200.

They are 18" rims, powder coated black and are missing the center caps.

First, I want to know if i just pissed away $200

second, how compatible are they with my 4runner? Its completly stock, but I plan to use them in about a year after its lifted with a set of toyo M/Ts.

All comments and/or advice would be appreciated.

PS: The guy he bought the rims from took them off his Toyota Tacoma and replaced them with XD rims. just a little side note.

They'll fit just fine. You might have some rubbing issues depending on what tire goes on, and how much you decide to lift it?

If they are the factory rims from an FJ Cruiser they should be either 16" or 17". The 17" that look like this are the most common.

They should fit on your 4runner with out issues. I think there are a few guys on this forum that have done it.

That is what they look like, and I haven't looked at them too hard, but he swore they were 18", I didn't think they came in 18", but a nice set Of rims Powder coated black for 200 bucks, I took it. Was it a good deal and how hard/easy would it be to sell the set for over 200?

Ya those are 17" for sure. You did get a good price. I usually see them selling for 300+ on Craigslist

Well in this area of Alabama he hasn't been able to sell them for 250, so i got lucky and he still made a little cash. It just took him a year

They have less of an offset (not sure if "less" is the right term, they dont stick out as much) than the stock 4runner wheels and I dont know with stock sized tires but if your go with 33's you will need spacers.

Those look great on that 4runner. What grille guard is that and will it fit on a 97?

I have the same FJ rims on my 96 without spacers with no issues. Running 285/70/17's on them with 2.5" lift

Did you do a body lift?

And thats what my 4runner would look like with those rims, except i run 265's at the moment.

Did you have to trim the wheel wells and is there any rubbing with 285's? I would prefer to not lift my vehicle since i only go on dirt and gravel roads here in alabama, so if i can use these rims with 275/70 id be a happy camper. Im trying to keep the look as stock as possible, with a few changes/mods.

I don't have a body lift on mine. Just 2.5" suspension lift. No rubbing on mine with the 285's. Haven't trimmed anything. Hope this helps
