Where is everyone staying? We got a late registration, and all the campgrounds are full! I have a rooftop tent so dispersed/BLM is what we are looking for. Thanks all!

I'm going to be RTT'ing it and have found a few spots suggested by FJC members. Interested to see if anyone wants to camp together.

After reading several pages on that link to the FJ forum, some of those people need to be reminded that they don't own Ouray or the trails. Just because you don't register for the Summit doesn't mean you are any less welcome than someone who did. Those guys can go eat a dic*.

If you didn't register, why would you want to be stuck on trails with hundreds of other trucks without a place to camp or a hotel room to stay in? Sounds like it may be worth waiting a week or two to allow the town to clear out.

I didn't register because I'm pretty new to this scene and my trip was already planned before I ever knew anything about the Summit being there that weekend. I already had vacation scheduled at work and couldn't just change it. If I hadn't stumbled across this thread, I may still not have known about it. Doesn't matter....a few of those guys have an elitist attitude as if they own the town that weekend. Also, I don't plan to be stuck on any trials with those groups. My trip is 14 days long......I'll wait them out till they are gone on Sunday or atleast most of them. My only interest in the Summit period is to see the vendors and what they bring. If I wanted to drive in a traffic jam at a snail's pace I'd cruise an hour South and get stuck in Dallas gridlock around rush hour.

The guys who you are saying can "eat a dick" are the guys who have been working for months putting together the event. They are also talking about people who are purposefully crashing the event, not those who are in town at the same time of the event to hit trails. I would suggest picking up the book below and hitting some of the trails that the summit won't be on. Enjoy your time, southern colorado is an amazing place to explore!

We're also arriving tomorrow mid morning and going to run Black Bear or Imogene and maybe go explore some gulches. Whatever trail we don't run tomorrow, we'll run Wednesday after registration. Going to checkout Black Canyon of the Gunnison today.

So, I have seen some teaser videos up on the Internet. For all of us that could not go, didn't go to be courteous to those who did register, and whatever other category we fall in....WHERE ARE ALL THE DAILY UPDATES??:hiding::worthless

People should keep in mind FJ Summit is more about the "scene" then about enjoying solitude that week. If you're a CO native, you know that on a random weekend, the San Juans offers a respite compared to the front range near Denver. However, on even weeks like FJ, people from *cough *cough Texas and other states swarm the area with their "once a year" offroad trips and bling bling builds. The trails don't tend to be difficult at all, but they are amazingly beautiful. Hence the draw of the crowds....+the vendors. Just enjoy it for what it is - but if you want to enjoy the real splendor of the San Juans...don't go on FJ Summit week. It's more or less a community car show in the mountains (ableit the most amazing mountains in the country).

I didn't get on the forums too much during the summit simply because I didn't have time. I'll post some pics below but all the good pics are still on the camera. I'll try to get some on here.

I agree with that. There were some over the top rigs up there along with half of texas on their UTVs. There is definitely a "scene " atmosphere there but I feel it's a great event and the timing seems to work for us.

That's my FJ in the middle of the front row. I slept in and somebody else took it down there for the group picture. I did see by far the coolest 1st gen. 4-runner I've ever seen drive through town one day while we were there. I don't think it was there for the Summit though.
