FJ suspension swap

just got a Fj off road suspension from a member of FJforums, was wondering if anybody has done a writeup for the install. any links, tips or suggestions would be much appreciated.

it's rather simple if you have the right tools....no matter what anyone says, USE A SPRING COMPRESSOR. don't take a chance of getting popped

Those look an awful like the ones Harbor Frieght sells for $9.99. I have the HF set, have't used them but would go real slow and watch to make sure they aren't going to bend or show signs of breaking. If you go to harborfreihtusa.com there are some coupons on the website and one is a 20% off coupon.......just a thought can't get it to come up right but add /FourWheeler after the .com in the website and you'll go to the right place

Most auto parts stores have a free loan-a-tool program. I know Autozone, Advace Auto Parts, and O'Rielly's have this. I just picked a compressor up from there. You have to pay for it first, then you have 30 days to return it and get a full refund. Ends up not costing you a dime.

You do NOT need spring compressors for the front. Only the rear. There is a great write up on how to do it on TOYOTA120.com. I did it for mine and it worked great. Here is a link.

You can get by without the spring compressor, but it's really not trouble at all and made the whole process a lot easier for me. I read that link and started to do it without, but in the end I'm glad I got the spring compressors. I don't see what the big deal is. Didn't cost me a dime to rent them, and definitley didn't hurt anything by using them. I think they helped out, but some seemed dead set on installing without them. so to each his own, but as for me, I'll be using them.

i used the spring compressor in the front. You don't need one for the rear.

It took me 30 minutes to install both rear springs.
