Hey Alex, wondering what you used as legs to mount your rack to the factory roof rails, I've been digging on building my own prinsu rack. Someone told me to check your page and here you went ahead and did it! I'd appreciate the input, thanks!

It's currently attached with unistrut on its side with holes drilled through it, you have to get the thick stuff or else it will break under stress, learned the hard way! But it's super easy.

Awesome I apareciste the input, I am actually planning to finish my last year at CSU. Unfortunately my school now only has pre-engineering and I hate the city which would be my only worth while option as far as graduating from somewhere in Ga so, Colorado it is! I hope you're enjoying college as much as I did my freshman year and you are in a way cooler place!

Regarding the Unistrut, do you have a part number to reference, I'm trying to compare several different fastening types and I like the low profile fasteners. Thanks again.

I'll I know is it's in the electrical section in Home Depot and it's the thickest gage they had! Definitely let me know once you are up here! It would be cool to meet up!

I'll definitely let you know! I'm driving out to CO for 3 weeks with my girlfriend to tour around CO in the 4Runner. We will go through FOCO and I will remember to let you know ahead of time. It's going to be along drive from Georgia for sure but it's well worth it.

Are your mounting legs still the same as shown in the original picture just thicker gauge? A picture would be sweet if it's not to much trouble one of these days!

Great looking truck, how do you like the automatic? If you were to purchase your 4runner all over again would you get the exact same model or do anything a little different? Im looking for one right now and having a hard time deciding what my 'perfect' find would be exactly.

They are the same. I have yet to upgrade to a thicker gage. They break often with the small gage but have not had time to go buy and make new mounts. I have broken two so far and just replace them with extras I made a while back

A very eventful uneventful camping trip...

So a bunch of friends and I decided to get away for the weekend. We headed up Poudre Canyon Road and then up Pingree Park Road in hopes for a good camping spot. Pulling into the camp spot I overshot the turn slightly and figured all was well and it was just a little dip with some grass cover. Little did I know there was an irrigation ditch dug out for a pipe and then a massive rock just to the side of it.
This is the result of my stupidity

Little did I know, I slammed my front diff skid so hard on the rock that it Cracked my radiator.

We noticed the leaking and began searching for the source.

IMG_5940 by alex fleming, on Flickr[/IMG]

It's probably a good thing that it happened because my Coolant was literally brown, it made it really hard to find where the leak was coming from because it the fluid seemed so odd. The leak had no odor and the consistency was water. We then decided to just get my car out of the mess being it was now high centered on my gas tank skid on the same rock. We tried to back up at the beginning but the hole I was stuck in did not allow us to go backwards and we figured less damage would result if we just progressed forwards.

IMG_5952 by alex fleming, on Flickr[/IMG]

We then got it free by jacking up the driver side rear tire with a hilift and stacking rock below it to gain traction and lift the car off the rock as well as clear the rear axle. It worked perfect, the hard part was getting the runner in a spot that we could use the hilift. After getting it free, I set up camp and just called it a night, figured I would deal with it in the morning.

I filled the radiator up with water in the morning and made it as far as I could before it unexpectedly overheated and shut it self off though the temp gage was reading stable temps. This is where we parked it for the next 4 hours. My buddy drove me into town where I got some advice from my buddy Kyle and picked up a new radiator.

Sorry for the poor focus on this one

You cant really tell from this picture but the radiator is bent up and broke the seal on the bottom side.

Got the other one all hooked up and filled with fluid and crossed my fingers.

I fired her up, she purred like a kitten. I read a few threads in town when I had service saying to burp the radiator. I turned the heat all the way up and cranked the fan speed up for about 3 minutes. Another thread said to rev up to 3,000 rpms a few times but I was nervous so I only did it once. After letting it run for 5 minutes I shut her off. I let it cool down then topped off the fluid. All seemed well excpet my engine light was still on. I drove it all the way back to campus with no issues. I spoke with derpiful who said he had a code reader so I went to head over and get the code. When I fired it up the check engine light was gone and all was well! Now to upgrade my diff skid:thumb:

Are said RCI skids free? Because that's the only way I could afford them[emoji23]

Not free, but I will be hosting another Group Buy for them in Oct/Nov. Since you already know how dependable those stock skids are you should start saving your penny's.

start saving your penny's.
I am definitely looking for other options asap because my current skid could only take 3 of the 5 or 6 bolts because it's so bent up now. Sadly I can not do anything until I find a job up here In Fort Collins.

Some pics from Middle Saint Vrain and Coney Flats this weekend! Always fun to get away from reality and enjoy the woods and changing leaves.

First thing I thought when looking through your pics was "Way to carry the Toyota flag kid!"

Beautiful photos, and that's the way family time should be done. Good work.

Had a busy friday night! I added ditch light brackets from SRQ Fabrications and some light pods off amazon. I also replaced my PIAAs with some Led Pods and Amber lenses. Lastly I spent 4 hours taking off the old plasti dip and then painted the wheels a nice Metallic Bronze from Rustoleum.

Heres the result!! And yes I also took my RTT off for the winter!

Longest 3 weeks of my life!!

Lower Control Arm Bushing, if you don't like wanting to kill yourself and wanting to sell your 4runner I highly recommend buying new lower control arms. This was a HASTLE, a PITA, and frankly just stupid. We first pulled every thing off to free the conrol arm so we could pull it out. That was a piece of cake. Then we pulled the cam bolts with no issues. The bushings were seized! had to cut those out on all 4 bushings and then free the arms.:redbrick::flipoff:

Here is everything we cut and pulled out of the arms.:ak472:

On one side we had to cut the lower shock bolt because it was seized, no big deal! Odered a new bushing from Toytec.

Here it is with no arms....:wow2:

Once the arms were out we did a combination of burning the bushings and also pressed out what we could. That wasn't awful. After doing this we rendered the Energy Suspension bushings useless so I returned those and ordered the Whiteline bushings that are labeled for the hilux and Fj's or something like that, they fit!. We had to remove the old outer sleeve using the cutting method on the inside!

Well after 3 weeks and way to much time wasted waiting on parts to show up and then be returned because they were wrong and then recieving 1 of only 2 things than having to pay over night shipping on the 2nd thing.... Here it is outside the allignment shop looking like a pigeon toed freak.... :twitch:

My allignment was free because Les Schwab could not get it perfect, they said my caster was maxed and couldnt quite get to the green, I dont really know what that means but im guessing more money and maybe new upper control arms... IDK though. It drives straight tho it pulls a little to the right. They said it wont bother the tire wear at all. Les Schwab really does have great Customer service. Giving me an allignment for free was overkill but Im extremely pleased!!!. Now hoping they hold up!:thumb3:

Reasons I bought all new OEM arms. But glad to see you got it done.

Nice that they gave you the alignment for free because it's just about impossible to get the caster into the green with a lift like yours. Basically more caster will push your wheel forward in the wheel well away from the firewall. More clearance for bigger tires and it will track better usually on the interstate, but it's not a tire wearing issue.
