After one final night in Moab with the crew, everyone parted ways. [MENTION=107971]derpiful[/MENTION] and I, on the other hand, had other plans. We headed south towards the promised land in search of a cool hike and some secluded camping away from the crowds.

Ratchet straps tightened we headed out.

We made it to the trailhead after some decent wheeling miles and crawled into the nooks and crannies of Utah.

We found a great spot in an area that I really love that is not super popular. Brought [MENTION=107971]derpiful[/MENTION] in there at night so he could wake up to the beauty. Sadly, he had to leave about 7:30 am to catch a flight in Denver. So off Hayden went while I had a lazy morning. I then headed down to Blanding to meet up with my rents.

With recent rainfall and really muddy roads, we loaded everything and everyone into the more capable vehicle and drove in as far as we could.

Dead inside we headed for camp and prepaired for the rainfall to come that night and the following day.

We camped in the valley we were overlooking the night before near to pavement so my dad could make it to the road in the morning.

Step one of fixing Moab carnage was to fix the broken D bushing clamp hardware. When I broke mine [MENTION=118730]AssBurns[/MENTION] sent me a picture of his fixed and I liked it a lot so I copied it. Really quite easy.

Stripped everything down. The hardest part was pulling the ratchet strap off as it had lodged into a small gap on my frame. Needed a bfh to get it out.

Bolted up super easy. Took about 45 minutes with a trip to the hardware store.

Thanks Josh, by far the worst financial decision I have ever made getting into this hobby but wouldn't change a thing. The places these trucks can take you and get you home (most of the time) is awesome.

Replaced my motor mounts with Trail Gears Bomb Proof mounts.

Having had the same issue as [MENTION=107971]derpiful[/MENTION] and losing my driver side motor mount completely, I opted to go for beef over comfort. The price tag was slightly more appealing as opposed to OEM mounts as well.

Ordered my mounts from Chasis Unlimited. Minus their lack of communications, the mounts showed about just over a week after I ordered them and they had the best price I found.

Got the old ones both out in about an hour, It's quite tricky getting tools in to remove them but with some persistence and creativity, it wasnt too bad.

The new ones also took about an hour to get in, using a jack on the drain plug. Not my best idea... and a prybar, I was able to line everything up and bolt them in by myself. I had a little help tightening everything up at the end as it was available but I would have been able to complete the job all by myself if anyone was wondering. It is totally doable.

Once everything was in, got the tires back on and back on the ground.

One of the main problems with these motor mounts is vibrations. I have heard from several sources that it is unbearable and people often switch them back out for OEM mounts. I will say this. They exist and it's noticeable. But, it's not bad at all. I had a transfer case skid that slightly rattled on my frame back in the day and that was way more horrendous than what these do. In gear at idle its the loudest. It can cause a harmonic rhythm that rattles some stuff and can get loud but if you drop it in neutral it completely stops. I've also been told they break in overtime and get nicer so if this is the worst it is ever going to be I am totally happy with the piece of mind they will never break again.

Overall, fairly easy to swap, just need skinny hands and willingness to scrap your hands on everything. Ill update on vibrations and how they do cruising on the highway once that happens.

I've had multiple cars with very stiff mounts. AC on might make it worse. Otherwise, it'll be fine above idle - especially in a body-on-frame vehicle.

This would be a great thing for a MT truck (shifting feel) - and you wouldn't have to worry about the in-gear at idle vibrations. eep:

Managed to escape this weekend! Met up with a bunch of 3rd gen guys including [MENTION=58830]JWaldz[/MENTION] who I hadnt seen in years. [MENTION=303600]RockyMtn_Runner[/MENTION] and [MENTION=57546]4-Ripcord[/MENTION] also came along. And a few others who's usernames I don't know.

We camped outside of Salida on the Arkansas River and it was gorgeous.

We all made the decision to run Chinamans up to Carnage Canyon and hang out for a bit and have a lazy day so that we did.

Man.. Great camp location Alex! That looks sweet.

Question: Did you end up cutting your rear 4x Innovations bumper to clear your 35s? I didn't think that mine would rub there, but I guess when my SS / Daystar rear bumps get compressed, my tires are rubbing the flat part of the bumper. I don't think it is rubbing the sharper / body behind the tire, but maybe the bumper is keeping it from slicing into my tires. Thoughts?

Mine rubs a little. Not enough for me to worry about it. Rubs on a smooth surface so it kind of acts as a stop from getting into other more aggressive places to rub I guess. Only rubs when articulating too, not when hitting bumps straight on.
