Flicking rocks out of treads

I bought some Michelin LTX's on rims for cheap, they will get me through another year or two of highway driving. Before putting them on I went through and flicked all the rocks out of the treads with a little pick. I think this is a good idea because as the tread wears the pieces will work their way deeper into the tire. I also found some spiky pieces of metal and glass that would definitely work their way deeper.

I also did this for the other set I swapped out from the winter tires. Does anyone else do this? Once a year I think would be good to do.

Nope I roll with the clicking as the rocks hit the pavement.

Why bother more is going to get stuck there anyways.

I noticed that they were digging deeper into the tire itself as the tread wears down. They get pushed into the cracks and when you run out of tread depth then they go into the tire.

yes, I have LTX's too and I occasionally flick the rocks out with a screwdriver.

I had that problem when I offroaded on street tires (occasionally, like most). Once I moved to ATs, this has not been an issue.

The Ko2s and the AT3Ws, especially, throw out everything once on pavement. No need to clean the tread. And unlike my street tires back then, these were/are used offroad all the time.

I had even forgotten this was a thing, honestly.

yup, my ko2's self clean when on pavement by sending all the rocks into other peoples windshields.

I have highway tires on mine right now, they're great for my commute, but anytime I hit a pothole little rocks from where it formed get in the tread... then.. Click, click, click, click, WHACK as it comes out and smacks the mudflap.
