FLIR/Rear view camera

Two questions, has anyone tested trigger the rear camera feed while driving? I assume you could apply 12v to some circuit to make the head unit change to the rear view camera.

And second would be, has anyone tried wiring up some other switchable AV source to the rear view camera wires?

The goal for me would to be able to use a forward facing FLIR setup in bad weather.

The first question has been covered on here before. It's not particularly easy to search on my phone, but try the Google search at the top of the page. As for FLIR, interesting idea, but I'm not entirely sure I would personally be able to justify the expense. If you can, good on you.
