Floor Mat Question

Hi everyone,

Just traded in my Tacoma for a 2013 4runner trail edition

Looking at getting some weather tech floor mats but they don't offer them for 2013.
Does anyone know if there is any difference from 2012 to 2013 models?
If not then I can just order the ones for 2012.

Yes, there is a difference. The retaining tabs on the '10-'12 T4R are hooks. In '13, they went to the twist knob retainer. I just ordered the '10-'12 ones and removed the factory twist retainers. The mats are so fitted they stay put and don't move around. IMO, they work fine without the extra retention.
 
I recently ordered the all weather mats for my 4runner but the dealer ordered the 12s by mistake. They wouldn't even sell me them because of the retainer clips. Five days later Im still waiting on the call letting me know that they've arrived. They quoted me $100 for them which isnt too bad.

Thanks man. It is probably easiest to just remove the factory retaining clips. It may be difficult to mod he mats to it the new clip. Like I said though, these things don't move.

My wife ordered me all-weather floormats for my 13' for Christmas. The dealer accidentally ordered the 2012's and they did not fit. When she went back to exchange them, she was told by two dealers that there is a manufacturing mistake on the 2013 and they have a stop-sell in the system. We were told to check back mid-january to see if the issue had been resolved.

Thanks Jay for the info! My dealer has been giving me the run around now. I would check every other day and each time they say the following day it will arrive. Im heading back to school soon, and I dont want my father picking them up and paying for it while Im gone.

Yeah I would much rather the dealer be honest than to lie and keep telling me they will be here the following day. I'm sure with it being the beginning of winter, and prime season for all-weather mats that they will get the problem fixed soon. I like the mat locks in the 13' and am willing to wait for OEM.
 
I've been in touch with both Husky and WeatherTech. Similar response from both: Yes, we know the foor mat anchor set up changed for 2013. Yes, we will have product soon. Yes, we're busy as heck around the holidays. No, this isnt first on our priority list. So previous post re product ready around end of January seems about right. Since I havent sold my 3rd Gen yet, the new '13 TE is seeing more garage duty than driving in the snow. [sigh]

I agree, the retaining clips are not needed. I went with the 2012 version of the HuskyLiners. They do not have any provisions for clips. They DO have a bunch of small teeth which, along with the form fitting, prevents them from moving around. I don't know how you would attach clips to them without punching holes, which defeats the whole purpose of having them. They are supposed to capture moisture and prevent your carpet from gettting wet. Just buy direct from HuskyLiners. The dealers are just covering their a**es by only selling the retaining clip type.

I don't think you can without damaging the carpet?? I'm using the Huskies from my 2011 in my 2013. The retainers are raised off the carpet 3/16" or so, but I haven't had a problem. Thought about heating the liner to mold in a depression for the retainer, but haven't really seen a need yet.
 
I have the Husky Liners in my 2010 TE b/c I prefer the NON shiney-smooth look as compared to Weather Tech's shiney-smooth hard plastic look;especially after it gets dirty after daily use FWIW.
 
I bought a 13 Trail a few months back, new. Came without floor mats, I'm guessing that either they or the dealer they traded from were being dickish and didn't like the fact that I REFUSED to pay 299 for floor mats that sell for 80 bucks on the internet. They also stole the cargo cover vinyl thingy. I told them that I bought a new truck, and part of the "terms" that they put down on the bill of sale included all weather floor mats. I was given a set of 2012 mats that didn't fit and actually moved around because the twist lockers kept them from fitting down on the floor properly.

They told me that the 13 mats were "back ordered" because of the unintended acceleration thing and they would send them to me when they became available. Since I had already bought the truck, the sales manager who was bending over backwards to help me started dodging my calls. He eventually told me "if you can find the mats, I'll pay you out of pocket."

I logged on to amazon and had them the next day.

That sonofa***** never paid me, despite me handing him the invoice.
