FN wheels (BFDS or Six Shooters) and WHAT tire?

Will be getting a Silver Sr5 premium T4R in Jan 2015... First thing will be to change wheels and tires....looking at the FN wheels and can't decide between a 18 inch wheel (BFDs) or a more stock sized 17 inch wheels (Six Shooters). Both wheels look very similar and I would be getting the gun metal metallic color.

Six Shooter: FN Wheels ? Konig Six Shooter

BFD: FN Wheels ? FN Wheels BFD

So what do you all think? 17" or 18" wheels?

I want to wrap them in BFG ATs or AT2s but them seem to have VERY limited options for load range C tires...seems like most of their tires are load range E....to me that seems way overkill for a 4 Runner....thoughts? Why doesn't BFG offer more C rated size options..

According to their website I could get:

AT KO in 265/70/17 in load range C
aT KO 2 in 265/70/17 in load range C


If I want to step up to an 18" wheel all the BFG tire options are E rated

And if I want to stay with a 17" wheel and bump up to a 275/70/17 I'd have to get E rated!


I really like the look of the BFGs but I have a set of E rated on my 2009 tacoma and they are stiff! The 4 Runner is gonna be more of a daily driver....so.....would like to stay away from E rated....

Thoughts on my dilemma anyone?

I vote for the Konig six shooters and BFGs. You will have to wait until March if you want a LR "C" in the KO2 tread.

You could always go with a different tire if you wanted a bigger LR"C" tire.

I love the BFG AT KO, but I have a problem with giving money to Michelin since they bought BFG (sometimes principle bite us in the butt). For roughly half the price you can get these. 60,000 mile tread life, very similar tread pattern, and very quiet on road. I have the light duty ones linked below and they have handled everything I have thrown at them so far. But they only list either the light duty or load range E in that size. No C rated that I can find. At least at Tirerack.

I'd vote for the Konig six shooters too. Love those wheels, would absolutely be what I'd choose if changing wheels.

I personally have the 17" six shooters and love the wheel. If I was doing it over, I would really consider the BFD, simply because there's better selection of 275" tires for the 18" wheel. There are a ton of options in the 275/65/18, particularly if you want to stay with a load range C, or even a P-metric. There are also plenty of options in the 275/70/18 or 285/65/18 size, although these do start to get more into the load range E.
