I have a tundra also and have done this fog light mod.

DIY: How-To Enable “Anytime” Fog Lights for $15 or Less

Does anyone know if this can be done on a T4R? I know the wiring will be different but this is much easier then doing relays.

Antman has written a very thorough how-to on this (see link above). It's probably not the "easiest" method, but it's a much more elegant solution IMO.

I have looked at antman way, but cutting 2 wires and connecting them seems so much easier and elegant to me. I wonder if I can get a wire schematic. I might try it and let yall know.

All of the 4Runner's relays are hidden inside the "black box" under the dash. That's why my mod is a work-around of the factory fog light circuit.

You are still only cutting 1 factory ground wire and tapping into 1 circuit to power the fogs, so I really don't see the difference.

If you find a better way that would be awesome! Good luck. :wink2: A/M

Difference is you have to run a relay where the tundra mod does not. Also the fog light on the dash works as normal without further modifications.

From what I saw you are still using a relay- The factory relay for the fog lights.
You can't access the relays in the 4runner- at least not easily.

You still have the hole saw from the cup holder mod right? :peep:

Jeff you probably studied these wiring diagrams way longer than I have...do you think if we actually were able to trigger the relay inside the ECU to activate the fog lights, would the dash indicator then come on with the fog lights? I don't have the courage like you to cut up my gauge cluster :)

I would bet my LED collection on it.

In 10 or so years, when I'm bored one day and my old trustworthy 5th Gen is just sitting in the driveway...

I may just pull my Factory-5 427 Cobra out of the garage (dreaming here) and put the 'Runner in there to yank the relay box from under the dash. (After I lay twin patches for a 1/2 mile with the Cobra of course...:lookout: )

Maybe.

You see, my LED works when my fogs are on- anytime. Gotta break some eggs to make an omelet my friend!

BTW- It's triggered by the ground from the switch, BUT the relay only has power when the headlights are on and the high-beams are off. That's the problem- and I'm sure it's all on a printed circuit board in there.

Antman, would you happen to have the wire schematics for the runner? I would like to compare it to the Tundra mod and see if I can figure it out. Thanks

Everyone on this site has the complete EWD thanks to @Nashman
