Fog Light Stalk on '96-'98?

My truck is a 98 LIMITED
My first stalk that I installed was from a Lexus ES300

The. Second stalk I installed was from a 01 4runner. I went with the 01 stalk because I was always putting the headlights on the AUTO and even though it didn’t hurt anything, it was annoying to me. The 01 4runner stalk doesn’t have the AUTO mode.

How did you get the 01 stalk to fit?? I have an 01 one with me but the assembly is larger and doesn't fit into the slot. I have to get more parts from the donor car's steering column to get it to fit (my assumption). Did yours just fit right in?

It was a direct bolt on if I remember correctly. I did it 7 years ago
