Fog light wiring on 3rd gen limited

I'm going to get a new ARB front bumper soon and I want to get new lights to go on it to replace the fogs that came on the limited bumper. Has anyone used the wires for the factory fogs to wire up new lights before? and I am also wondering which lights to get for the new bumper.

you could use the factory wiring, but I wouldnt- too much curren tfor what are probably crusty weak wires. Run a separate switch, theres a great post today on this that highlights how to do it, really straight forward...

fwiw, i repurposed my factory wiring with success. I previously had added oem fogs, tapped into wiring to add the switch up front and use the oe prewired fog connections to plug into my sr5 (which didnt originally come with fogs.)

later added an arb and currently have $15 HF offroad lights W00t!. dont get me wrong, id love me, nay, i need me some strykers or some piaa's but thats not in the budge right now. I did my reading and found camps on both sides of utilizing the OE wiring. figured if it was good enough to run factory fogs on which i did/had, and my extension wiring was up to oe standards, i should be good. also my wiring seemed to be in decent shape to begin with, so... i decided for me the risk was low and manageable.

so far so good, people have complained about the lights leaking and corroding so i disassembled and rtv'd em real good like. dont have a ton of hours on them, but they work flawlessly, no wiring heating up or signs of stress on the system.

The OEM fog circuit is made for 2x 55w units, so I didn't have any worries putting two 55w driving lights on it.

I then modified where the fog circuit got its power. Normally it's powered off of the drivers side low beam but I wanted it to work in both low and high so I moved it down one spot in the fuse box to the running lights(labeled TAIL in fuse box).

I had them turned on for 3 hours straight late Monday night (longest I've used them yet) with no issues... Oh and they saved me from hitting a deer - saw it way ahead.

just buy a set of PIAAs, they have the simplest wiring set up, its plug n play, a blind mentally challenged koala bear could install it
