For those who have a permit and carry; this is a great video. Since several of us here have shown our "Glock-mod" for the truck I think it's well in order to be reminded of how to handle the responsibility.

Here in CO, you don't and there isn't a database for LEOs to check to see if you have a CCW permit. One of the CCW classes I took had some Park Co. Sheriff deputies as students. When this issue came up, they said they didn't care one way or the other.

Bottom line, different areas need to be handled differently so ask some LEOs in the areas you travel what they prefer and go by that.

[soapbox] While I agree with that statement for your LOCAL area where you are aware of the local rules/customs, the video focuses on a generally acceptable rule of behavior regardless of location. It does not profess to be the end-all rule, but a recommended scenario that minimizes any possible issues. [/soapbox]

Don't get me started on Massad Ayoob. I'll just say that he is not the person I would trust for my training (LFI) or for information on this topic.

Also, he is dead wrong when, in the video, he mentions that Arizona is a state in which you have to inform if you're carrying.

Furthermore, in situation #1, assuming you're not in a "must declare" state, I see no reason why one should inform the officer. Period. It's simply not the officer's business whether or not I'm carrying.

Okki, you're in Indiana, right? Indiana does not require you to notify. Do you notify? Maybe you're just a good driver and don't get stopped.

In Texas we are required by law to inform if pulled over/stopped, althought since sept.1 2011 there is NO longer a penalty if you fail to inform. Odd I know.

I have been stopped once since I've had my chl. Speeding 46 in a 30mph 15 mins after a school zone and was released with a verbal warning. The officer told me "by the way I like people with chl's". So I firmly believe I WILL inform any time I'm in contact with a Leo.

I also have a best friend as a deputy sheriff and a close friend that is txdps and both say they will never ticket a chl holder!!!

Yup, shut your mouth when dealing with the LEO. Got pulled over the other night for speeding, my buddy was driving his new car late at night empty freeway. He pulled into a gas station and extracted his documents when the LEO approached. When he was asked why he was pulled over he was about to answer. I punched him hard in the arm. The LEO asked what my problem, I told him my friend would be stupid to help the LEO's case. Just write the ticket so we can cruise. When the citation was handed to him he was about to thank the LEO when I punched him again, and told him this guy just gave you a bill for 500 bucks why the hell are you thanking him ?

Yup shut your damn mouth, seek professional help.
