For those who've been to Loon Lake Northern CA

I'm sure many are familiar with Loon Lake as it's one of the popular access points for the Rubicon, but I'm curious about getting to the lake itself for fishing/camping. My question is: a stock TE could make it there no problem right? I've heard there's an easy way and a hard way to get there from Hwy 50, but I'm interested in the easy way, and additionally is it smooth enough for a small boat trailer?

From 50 it's paved the whole way. Any car, truck, trailer will work. Lots of people just go there to camp and many trailered rigs too. You will have no need for any off-roading to get there. The campsite is usually full but lots of spots. Google directions from 50 and you'll be ok. Ice House Rd from 50 all the way to the lake.

He just wants to go to loon lake. No need to run the con. Entrance from Loon is where I start. I think you are correct about the stock 5th. Paved all the way to loon lake from hwy 50.

I wish it was cold. Prob in the 60s in the day and 30s at night. Not too bad. When it snows it's closed but I am pretty sure it's open right now. It's actually not that high of an altitude.

Cool thanks for the intel. I didn't realize there was a paved road. For me it would have to be a weekend trip since it's ~3hrs. I was more asking for this spring, but I wish there was more snow too. Should be a bit of snow and rain tonight though (I'm in Reno).
