Forum is unusable

I have experienced just the opposite, it's been very fast for me in the last couple of days since the Administrator posted the following on the 9th....

"Please stay tuned. We upgraded the server, but still having intermittent issues. Working on it."

So something has been done that I can see, is it perfect....no... but better on my end, I do have an Ad Blocker and use a laptop so that maybe a factor, I can't attest how it does using a cell phone.
I don't generally like to critique as I get life happens and people have busy schedules. That said I've noticed absolutely nothing and if your in the role of admin or site mod it shouldn't be something were you check in once a year and have to be begged for days to even get any communication. I'm with Tim in that it's beyond aggravating how little communication there is from the people who keep this site going (which I'm questioning if they even are as absolutely nothing has changed on my end and it took about 3 tries to even get this to load) and the forum software is at this point 8 years past end of life. Nothing was mentioned about any attempt to upgrade to a newer software to make the forum more enjoyable to contribute too. I will occasionally have a couple hours where things load within ~10 seconds but it always goes back to being slow as molasses or not loading at all.

I think what's most aggravating is that this is the best 4r forum there is. Yes there are tons of other forums but a forums value is based off what the members contribute. This used to be, and arguably still is one of the best forums and has a wealth of information and a great community. It's just frustrating when users are lost and the forum becomes less and less active - and now often unreachable due to owners who seemingly could care less when the users genuinely want to help improve things or even donate money if needed.

For now, I right click on a thread I want to read so it opens a new tab. I do this for all the ones I want to read so end up with a few tabs open. I then go between them as they eventually load. Annoying yes but not as annoying as watching one tab.
This is exactly what I've been doing on this forum for a long time.

I had no idea about that awesome!
I was always told to use taptatalk or an external source so its great to know you can!

In posts there are 2 ways to post an image: Insert and image inline with the post or attach it to the post.

If you use the Insert Image button (yellow button with mountain) the image has to be located elsewhere on the Internet and you will use the URL for that image.

If you have an image you want to upload from your device, use the paperclip button, which will direct you to select an image from your device, then upload it. (You can also manage your upload with this button or in the Additional Options section, Manage Attachments.)

There are limits to the size of attachments so if something doesn't upload, look for an error message about the size. Resize the image and try again.
I've always used the standard "Manage Attachments" button at the bottom. See screenshot:

Right now this forum is being fast for me. But yesterday it failed to connect. This forum has been more unpredictable lately, it use to be just slow, but now it ranges from fast to even slower than before.

I'd prefer forums to facebook groups. I'm glad to see them saying they're making upgrades.

interestingly, This site no longer comes up with the search engine I use when one searches "3rd gen 4runner forums" (Comodo Dragon), doesn't even find it if u type the full name into the search or any other searches that should show it...

Its usable yet slowish in general most of the time compared to any other site. Clear some cache on that server and reboot it.

I am so glad that this has been brought up as I've been experiencing the same thing lately. I tend to use Tapatalk on my iPhone but sometimes I use the computer (like right now) and the site is either too slow, shows up all weird, or just doesn't even load at all. I would love to see the site get back to a fully operating status because I've used this site for years. I may not be the most active member but I try to add information and research information whenever needed. I will say I love this site and if there's anything that I as a user can do to contribute to getting its operation back to full status that I would be willing to do that.

Thing is I shouldn't have to use an ad blocker to even access a website... I'm pretty sure it's not related to ads. I couldn't access the site at all for 2 hours and now it works again. I have excellent Internet and LTE too.. zero issues loading any other website or even smaller community forums.

Yesterday and today I've been instantly getting this more often than not....

"This site can’t be reachedwww.toyota-4runner.org took too long to respond."

And it happens fast most of the time like the page doesn't even try to load before getting that message.

That is odd. I experienced that a year or so ago, but it has been good enough for me lately on computers. There may be a regional DNS/data propagation issue since the upgrade/changes here, but I'm not an expert. It might help to add another DNS server to your device like 8.8.8.8 (Google) to test things. Don't bite my head off, but if I was trying to support a user with these issues, first stop would be clearing your browser's cache.
