Forum is unusable

Can only be accessed through mobile for me, which sucks because on mobile there's frequently this stupid glitch where an ad tries to infinitely grow in resolution size and makes all the text tiny.

I have more 4Runners now than ever, but ironically, I'm on T4R less than ever. I, like many of you, recall what it was once like here...

Thai and his confrontational threads, T4RoTM actually being updated (and quite an honor), BFaD's highly anticipated kitchen sink mod, Dirtco's insane fab skills, Dylan's Rock Lobster showing us all how it's done in CO, Kyle's strange and unexplainable obsession with 2nd gens, that crazy psychotic weirdo "mom" who I banned at least 10 times, Bryan's incurable death wobble, Jay "driffter33" and the battle of the 235/85/16 pizza cutters, and so, so much more.

The golden age of T4R.ORG has long passed, and all that remains better resembles an incontinent body in decline than a bottle of fine wine.

Factually, the current owner has never and will never have interest in the Toyota 4Runner. This forum is one of many that all simultaneously serve one purpose - a paycheck.

If the ad money comes in regardless, there's zero motivation to put in any extra effort. It has been radio silence for years now.

With the support of the other moderators, my last attempt to reach the owner was April 17th of this year. No response, as ignored as the various attempts which preceded it. I might as well have been writing letters to Santa, because it seems like admin isn't real and we've all been duped.

Trust that we'd like to have done something about this years ago. The whole situation is a damn shame. A once great forum, now a reminder of the crushing impact of owner-absenteeism.

I think we all owe a huge thank you to fourwd1 for being the only active mod still on daily duty. He's single-handedly kept this place in check for the last several years.

@ COB, do you anticipate that the forum will eventually shut down? I certainly hope it doesn't, but I'd like to know so I can at least try to save my build thread info in the event it does go down for good.

I don't anticipate a closure, but backing up your build thread info is certainly a good idea regardless.

90% of my screen is ads. Gross, clickbait style ads. Can't scroll the forum at work anymore. Looks too weird. I'm over on some other Toyota forums now for daily-browsing.

Can you share? I’m sick of the ads here and the weird ass scratching stuff when scrolling.

You need a simple free ad-blocker like uBlock Origin. Since I learned that this site is now owned by someone who doesn't give a shit about Toyota 4Runners, I have no guilt not contributing extra to their revenue stream by tolerating any of that stuff and I now see ZERO ads.

Seems to work ok for me but I agree I use it less and less for a lot of the reasons mentioned.

Is there somewhere people are going instead? Please don’t say Facebook…

Ditto on Farcebook.

I don't know where most people are going but I have used toyotanation for years. The forum always works, but its owned by Verticalscope who have ruined many a forum

4Runner 3rd Generation (1996-2002) | Toyota Nation Forum

It is usually dead but seems to have seen a small uptick in recent days

Some have mentioned yotatech so I signed up there, but it is not super active either
95.5-2004 Tacomas & 96-2002 4Runners - YotaTech Forums

Then there is 4runners.com 3rd Gen 4Runners (1996-2002) | Toyota 4Runner Forum [4Runners.com]

If there are others, please post. This forum is on life support in the ICU and I do believe one day it will just be gone, regardless of the platitudes of the absentee owner.

I hate to bring this thread to the top, but is anyone having issues with accessing the forum via Tapatalk? I can’t even use it for T4R anymore. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled in multiple times to no avail. Not sure if it’s a forum issue or an app issue.

I have no issues browsing the forum using a MacBook and Safari at home, haven't tried in the office. Only thing is after sometime, I need to confirm as a human being when looking at another thread.

My understanding is that the Verify you are Human function was part of the site-hardening against the DDoS attack that brought this forum to its knees a few weeks back. Since they implemented that and I turned on an adblocker fulltime, I have had almost no trouble with this site on Chrome, FF, DDG, and Edge. I don't use Safari - I work in IT :cry2:

Laptop w/Edge and adblocker working fantastic every now and then taking too long to create reply
or review post have to verify not a robot. iPad 10.3.4 Ios Safari no longer works for site.

Its the changes.. My tapatalk died after the upgrade. I can only access via the webpage now.
