Forum is unusable

My understanding is that the Verify you are Human function was part of the site-hardening against the DDoS attack that brought this forum to its knees a few weeks back. Since they implemented that and I turned on an adblocker fulltime, I have had almost no trouble with this site on Chrome, FF, DDG, and Edge. I don't use Safari - I work in IT :cry2:

Yup The only thing I seen is tapatalk no longer functions.. I don't use apple products but I am seeing members saying that safari may have issues with the forum after the changes. IF you work in IT get out while you can..LOL.. I have 30 years in the field and I am ready to retire..( I Wish)

LOL. My large org went 90% Apple about 8 years ago and i have no problem with their hardware and macOS (after being a Windows dude for the previous 20+ years because I was anti-Apple). I use both platforms daily. I just dislike Safari for a variety of compatibility issues we encounter. Technically, I could retire, but my bill collectors and family wouldn't be as stoked as I would...

Think about all the time you have to work on your rigs and play..:D (This is what I keep telling myself)

It doesn't matter if its windows, mac or Linux.. They all have issues. :D

I need to make it through at least 1 more round of collective bargaining to bump up my salary before retirement. I spent most of my working life in the private sector which netted me nothing. In IT you can practically work forever and AI ain't taking my job anytime soon.....

Its the changes.. My tapatalk died after the upgrade. I can only access via the webpage now.

That's a bummer. I really enjoyed using Tapatalk because it was so easy to upload photos to the forum. Now I have to resort to using my Flickr again. No worries though. Glad to know it wasn't just me having those issues also.

Just wanted to chime in. This is by no means meant to scare people away.
The forum obviously works better on some days and worse on others. Despite that, we have no fear of it just 'coming to an end'.
Mods usually experience the same issues all the members are having, and while we express our concerns, the ugly truth is there's typically not much of a follow up from the Admin/Owners on when or if something will get handled.
This leads to us mods not being able to provide any information on problem solving, next steps, what's coming, etc..

Sorry I couldn't share better information.

Looks like forum software would be the only backup option. Other that that
I've never seen anything available for the average user, other than one page
at a time.

Has anyone copied the 3rd gen forum yet, or are we waiting for it to disappear so we can say darn, sure wish someone copied that site...

I'm sure the forum has an automatic backup schedule. There would be no worries of losing the forum or sections.

I have seen people mention that they wanted to back up their build thread or the entire forum. I cannot fathom how that would even be possible.

Without a forum to display the data in, it sounds akin to copying the HTML out of a website but having no browser to make sense of it.

A backup is not going to do anyone any good when the absentee admin just decides to walk away completely.

I am talking about a copy. It will not work as a forum , but it will save all of the data in the 3rd gen subform (or the whole site, if you have unlimited storage. or one thread, if you wanted...) .

I've posted this multiple times, as an example of software that can copy (not back up) the data. HTTrack Website Copier - Free Software Offline Browser (GNU GPL) I have used it to copy entire websites on Windows but I no longer have Windows, I also don't have enough storage space, and the Linux command line version is a bit above my head.

Can't seem to post!!

I am getting the following when trying to post a reply:

Error: Call to a member function shareads() on null in ..../includes/functions.php(5736) : eval()'d code on line 18

I am wondering 2 things:

1:) Why my antivirus is blocking threats every time I goto post on the forum.

2.) Why it is running 3.8.11 bulletin when when that is no longer supported and end of life with 6.X being the current version...

Dont get me wrong its running a lot better then it has in years. However, with the removal of tapatalk functionality. I have to reseize images to add photos to threads and I have yet to find a good pixel ratio that is respectible and correct size for the forum. I understand that limit in image sizes. I just don't understand why when uploading the images dont resieze and shrink to forum limit automatically.

The new version of v bulletin handle this automatically. If cost is an issue. I am sure some members would donate to get rid of the non vendor ads and get this modernized.

I feel like the average forum members care more about the forum and all it contains than the person who runs it. Yes it is running better now and we’re all thankful for that, but it the management of it is a black box.

Jon, one of the loopholes to this is using a photo hosting website such as Flickr, in which you're able to embed photos of any size based on parameters it allows you to set. Hope this helps.

1.) Why
2.) Why
I just don't understand why

Because admin doesn't care about anything except ad revenue...Multiple people have offered to help pay for an upgrade, but he doesn't respond. And honestly, if you look at what he gets for ads he doesn't need the financial assistance. They get more in one month from one advertiser than it would cost to upgrade the software.

Now if advertisers would start dropping out maybe that would get his attention. Or the site might just die a little quicker

Yes, that is an option. However, when the photos are gone or links broken they no longer show in the forum. So that's an issue down the road.

Possibly the owner don't care. I don't know.. I do know the mods having nothing to do with it and don't have any say either.

I know what the vendors pay for adverting on there. That income alone should pay for the forum needs but maybe its doesn't

Vbulletin 6 is $180.00. Granted, I don't know the costs of the hostage and storage fees for this forum.

I do know vbulletin 3.8 is dead ...

Maybe some of these addons are no longer updated as well.

At the bottom of the pages it tell us
