This is an offer that's been made to me by a local dealership. I'm not sure if this is a good deal, an OK deal, a great deal, or an impossibly excellent deal.

What I'd like for all you experts to do is rate this offer on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being the worst deal you've ever seen and 10 being the best deal you've ever seen and could only dream of. I'm a first time buyer and was wondering how it rates in the grand scheme of car buying offers.

I'm in the midst of buying an SR5 with sliding cargo tray, power seats, convenience package (sunroof), and the upgraded stereo. I've been going at this for a while.

You need to look at the invoice (have the dealer fax it to you). Then you should pay between zero more than that and $500 more than that (exclusive of tax/tag, inclusive of discretionary dealer fees (arbitrary documentation fees can be up to $1000)) for a great to good deal.

Holdback on these things is 2.8%, so even if the dealer sells it at invoice, they're still making 2.8% on the deal.

Also, Toyota publicizes their incentives on the 3rd or 4th of each month, so you'd be advised to wait a week to see if they match GM's and now Hyundai's offer of 0% financing or $1000 cash back.

List on that should be a little over 36K, right? I think that is a decent deal, depends how many are sitting on the lots around you. Plus now with the big Toyota reacall they may be willing to go lower to get ANY sale. I would say a 6 or 7.

you're absolutely right. MSRP is a few bucks under 36,100. as i recall from PM'ing you, this is pretty much the same vehicle you have minus the sliding deck and cargo cover. am i mistaken?

Anyone else want to take a stab at the Rate This Deal game?

Wow! I paid $36600 after tax, title and license. I have a black SR5 with all the same options. I thought I got a decent deal...

This deal gets a 4.

I have to agree w/ MikesToy... this is not such a great deal. You should be able to get it at invoice and absolutely NOT more than $500.00 over invoice. So your max should be around $32,500-ish?

If you purchase it in Tenn. you get $1,000 cash back. I may fly down there, just to save some extra $$$.

I too am in shopping mode (though will wait and see what happens at either end of February or the end of March).

I'm either going to get the same SR5 as the one you mentioned or a Limited. I had two dealers call me on Friday - trying to sell me a Limited for 500 bucks over invoice. I told them both no.

I think historically, dealers are more willing to negotiate if you wait to the end of the month. My two cents. Time is on your side.

I think you got a decent deal. I get employee pricing and it is just a bit under invoice. My loaded up SR5 (no 3rd row or tray) is going to be right over $32k w/ my pricing.... unless I get that extra $1000 incentive.

Looks better than my deal. The SMRP of my SR5 was 34409 and I paid 32116 which was supposed to be $500 over invoice. Then add leather $1595 and heated seats $595, tax 1030, dealer fee 299 and tag transfer and BS 25 out the door $35660
But got a decent trade-in
