Found my 3rd Gen 4R

So much for the alignment and tires today. As it turns out, I need LBJs (they were supposedly replaced ~10,000 miles ago according to the Carfax when I bought the truck....), and an ITRE. They are also not sure if they'll be able to get the cam bolts loose on the control arms to align it. God damn rusty northern vehicles....
 
At least your frame is outta the salt and you dont have to wrench in the snow!! I ordered all four cam bolts but only ended up using one, fwiw. Only had to cut one, maybe the vibration helped get the pb blaster moving.

Start spaying some PB blast and let them soak.

Yeah that's probably what I'm going to do.

Oh, and the LBJs were a complete *****. The passenger side was the only one that was bad, and it would NOT budge from the spindle. Used a pickle fork to start, and beat the crap out of it with a 3 lb ball peen hammer with no avail. Ended up renting a pitman arm puller this morning from O'Reilly's that did the trick. The driver's side popped right out the second I loosened the castle nut.

I didn't replace either of the ITRE's, because they seemed fine to me, I'm just going to tell them to align it anyway.

Alright, so I'm getting back a wayyy bigger tax return than I thought I was this year and I want to buy one of the two things I've been wanting to put on my truck since I bought it. Either wheels, or an ARB front bumper.

These are the four wheels I'm torn between.

And you all know what an ARB bumper looks like. I don't hate my stock wheels, but they're corroded from being up north. On the other hand, the screwed up front bumper from where the lady hit me is bothering me..... Decisions, decisions.

You need to PM a MOD for that.

Your trucks coming along nicely, it was so pretty stock It'd be hard for me to change it.

How do you like the Hercules? They get awesome reviews. They were on my very short list but Discount Tire sales are hard to beat so I went with the Hankooks.

I dont get it? My trucks been in NY for 17 years & never had a problem with the cam bolts for an alignment. Dont they have WD40 down there? LOL
Your trucks cleaner than mine, tell them to suck it up!

Tires aren't on yet, no sense in installing them just to wear them down without an alignment yet. I'll let you know though! They get great reviews, and I had another friend with a 4Runner recommend them.

They haven't touched them yet, but thought they were going to have trouble with them. Who knows, people down here don't know what to do when they see rust :laugh:

I've been dousing the cam bolts in PB Blaster two times a day since Monday, so hopefully there won't be any issues tomorrow.
 
Finally had the tires installed and the front end aligned. As it turned out, they didn't have any issues with the cam bolts (thank god). However, they apparently noticed that the radiator is leaking from the passenger side bottom. With it being the OEM radiator (I'm assuming at 150,000 miles) and with an Arizona summer approaching, I decided to order up everything associated with a radiator replacement and get that taken care of before anything happens.

I will grab some photos of the truck here in the coming week. It's been a rainy, cold miserable weekend here.

I ordered an AVS bug shield for the hood, since I always thought the front end was missing something, so that should be here soon.
