Front coilovers help

I purchased a used set of front coilovers, the silver toytec eibach & bilstein kit.

When they came in I opened the box, took a look and then closed the box, put them on a shelf until I could get to them. (Things have been hectic lately, we've been short handed at work making me do 10 hours a day, we've got newborn twins etc etc)

I got a chance this weekend to finally get some things done. Well, it seems as though there is a problem with one of the struts. I'll include pictures but the problems is; one of the struts is not straight. The shaft seems straight, its just sort of angled right at the body of the strut, the bend is where the shaft enters the body of the strut. I don't know if the shaft is bent inside or what really is going on.

I'm assuming I just need to get new struts, right? This can't be corrected, can it?

This may be stupid, but these are bilstein 5100 struts, right?

Looks like an issue with the valve inside the shock body. The shock shaft usually threads into the valve/shim stack, and it looks like a misalignment where it attaches. Or, worst case, it completely sheared off.

If it's under warranty, see if bilstein will repair it. If not, maybe you can pull it apart and see what's wrong. I don't know anything about these specific shocks, so you may not even be able to disassemble them. Do a quick search and see if you can.

I don't see anything wrong. Pretty much all coilovers will have a little bow to them while they are uninstalled.

Yes those are the Tacoma 5100 shocks

(Sorry for the delayed response, newborn twins take a lot of time from me)

I don't know if I would say there's a bow to the one coilovers, its more like angled. The top picture, the strut is angled towards the spring (going up) then the shaft is angled back down. If that makes sense..

The second picture, you can see the top coilover is straight, while the bottom is angled right where the shaft meets the strut. Again, closer to the spring towards the top of the photo.

Is that the bow ou were talking about? This is somewhat normal when they sit uninstalled for a while? Will it straighten out when installed? I just ought that once weight gets put on it, at that angle, it would just mess up my align,net and throw a bunch of things off, if it doesn't just fail completely.

About the bilstein warranty, I'll have to look but I think it'll applies to the original purchaser.

Worse case scenario I'll just have to get a new pair of front struts I guess. Thanks for the ID on them, wasn't sure exactly on the model.
