Front Runner Racks and Accessories

Went by the FrontRunner open house today and ended up buying a rack. My needs are different than a lot around here. I don't need an RTT, but I do like to spend a lot of time on the roof with a tripod shooting video and taking pictures when I travel around. I also like to be able to mount a bike, snowboards, surfboard on occasion so it all seems like a good fit for me.

Will update when I get it mounted next week. I'm still considering a few add ons.

A lot of great trucks on display at the open house today. Only saw one or two 4Runners, but some great Cruisers and Tacomas.

This, plus a ladder, a lounge chair, soda, and popcorn would be great at a drive in theater.

The ladder mounts they sell are great.... don't buy the ladder though.... can get the same telescoping one on amazon for a fraction of the price...

Good call. I might get the ladder mounts, still pulling together my list. I'm also looking at a Gobi Ladder for the back.

I was there too! Also picked up a rack. I was so excited I went home and assembled the frame. Will be mounting tomorrow. I'm going to pick up the GOBI ladder (current group buy) which should work with it.

My girlfriend was nice enough to get me the Wolfpack box and a couple softpacks at the sale (Christmas presents of course)

For snowboards I have the Yakima Fat Cat 6 but I had to remove 2 slats so I can get 4 boards on the rack with the bindings. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Nice. I am not installing until I get back from a trip over the next two weeks, so I have some thinking to do. I may be going all flat with all the slots filled, but I need to see how that works with various accessories.

I'm also debating about adding the expedition rails. They are easier to add now than pull the rack off later to add. Not sure I need them though.

I picked up a few wolf packs and soft packs while I was there. I was really impressed with the drawer systems that uses the wolf pack boxes. I asked if they had installed any on a 4Runner and they haven't yet. They said there is one local 5th gen guy who is going to be the test case soon. I'm interested to see how that works out because that's probably my next big purchase. Locking drawers with modular wolfpack boxes is perfect for what I do.

I pay through the arse... shipping anything to hawaii. I actually have a bunch of the accessories, couple of which I wish I didn't buy..... here are the ring I think are vital.

Wolf packs, 13 gal water (if camping), the eyelet attachment points, the strachit straps (I like a lot), and the mounting brackets for the arb awning (if you go arb rather than the FR one).

Remember a couple of things..

1. The rails can be pretty easily installed or removed after the rack is up.
2. If you are doing the gobi ladder, you will need to grind a bit off the FR rack cause it will hit when you open the hatch. I wish FR made a ladder specific for the 4R like they do have for some other vehicles.

Awesome build! How are you liking it so far? If you are looking for a ladder option, the Gobi ladder will mount to the Slimline II rack tray!

Love my rack and all the accessories. Only option for quick release RTT. c4 ladder doesn’t require any mods. Also, having had a Gobi and Exotechne I can tell you c4 is the best option. Aluminum and steel, flat steps with traction, side step option and accessory mounts.
