Frozen stock radio, -10 degrees

2008 sr5....stock radio came on when the vehicle was started, changed stations once and everything but the volume froze up.........no backlight, no on/off, no display, no changing stations only have volume......remember, -10 degrees out when this happened......any ideas?

I wouldn't expect anything electronic to operate (efficiently, if at all) at that temperature... if you do, go buy a heated garage to store your Runner in overnight

My stock radio has some similar issues in not nearly as cold temperatures. Sometimes only the steering wheel controls work; sometimes the screen doesn't work or the characters get all jumbled. I just let it freak out for a while then the next time I go to drive it seems to fix itself.

Mine does the same in cold weather, or when there is a lot moisture inside the vehicle. After it dries out or warms up, it returns to normal.

-40 my stereo has always worked. Now the LCD display is slow until it warms up but the function works!

Huh, the LCDs on ours are a bit slow until they warm up, but everything else work fine when they are that cold. Was it still messed up after it warmed up? How about the next time you started it?
