FS: eimkeith PCK® (Panhard Correction Kits) for 3rd gen $93.50, 4th/5th Gen $98.20

when you weld these on, do you just put them in place and tac it? or do you run the stock bolts through the original mount to ensure it gets welded on straight? i dont see anything on your site that discusses welding these in.

edit: i have no idea what you mean about cutting an arc either. do you have pictures of that?

Yes - you put the bolt back in the factory hole through the frame side PCK bracket to position it for welding. It will self-align at that point against the bottom of the frame mount on the wheel side. Easy-peasy! :)

I don't - but someone might - Tyler James Inc came up with that trick, I was grinding one side of the spacer flat to use it with the middle hole, but cutting an arc to clear the top side of the spacer in the bottom of the mount is a great approach as well.

You'll understand what I mean if you take your PCK, put it in position, then try to put the bolt through in the middle hole with the spacers on it. - the middle hole is right at the flat bottom of the mount, so a round specer won't go in unless it has a flat top (to fit against the flat bottom of the factory mount) or an arc is cut out of the factory mount to clear the round spacer. Either appraoch works. If you're not using the middle hole, it is a non-issue.

thank you. i have been on your site. there are only two pictures for the 3rd gen and no install instructions (or tips per se). im not going to lie, im an idiot and pictures really help me.

im still not sure what youre talking about when it comes to the arc, but i guess ill cross that bridge when i get there.

i will have to get a set of these ordered hopefully sooner than later. thanks for making stuff like this! its always nice to jump into a new chassis and have plenty of options for mods. :)

Just got my kit recently, the quality is fantastic. I did have a bit of a stupid question though, well it might just be a perspective thing I guess. Does the top bracket go over the factory bracket? and then do I need to put an extra bolt through it after welding it?

(3rd gen)

Here's what I have of how the frame side bracket is positioned prior to welding (I'd put the factory bolt in when welding so nothing moves on you)

That helps, so just use the bolt to hold it until you get a tap weld or two?
Where do the washers go?

Hahaha - check out post #262. :)

Okay so I read over 362 and some other posts... and maybe I am just really dumb but I'm still unsure what the washers do.. haha

I guess my question is what is their purpose?

:jaw:

WAIT... I think I may understand... Are they for the inside of the bracket to keep the bar centered inside it? And the middle position requires the washers to be trimmed to fit correctly?

Yep! you got it!

Sorry, I thought you'd just overlooked yesterday's posts; didn't realize that my explanation was unclear - my bad.

hey keith, i got these yesterday with my LCA reinforcement plates and it looks all looks great.

i wanted to see someone install these to see how long it would take me and how much stuff i needed to remove. i watched the tim tool man video and while his videos are great, his PCK video is basically just him talking and no real install. i am not new to wrenching on cars or anything, but i am new to the 4WD world. i would like to know if i can simply jack up the rear of the 4Runner, remove panhard bar, strip appropriate paint on axle and frame, weld in place, paint, and reinstall panhard bar?

im trying to avoid taking the rear axle out at all costs, id just like for it to droop enough so i can weld the PCK in. i dont have a spare tire in the OEM location, so im assuming if i can get the rear high enough, i can sit cross apple sauce and weld in? i only have one vehicle at my disposal now (the 4runner), so im just limited to weekend projects.

Thanks! Glad you like them.

Yep, that's what I did when I put them on Cowards truck. I was up on the alignment rack though, so I had a couple feet more height than you, I imagine.

hey keith, i have one final stupid questoin but i have to ask as there just really isnt any info on your site.

will i need to get an alignment after i weld this in? I got an alignment when i first raised my 4runner and the guy said while they check the rear alignment, there isnt really anything they can do if they find an issue. so im assuming no, but i still wanted to double check.

the reason i ask is because i recently refreshed my entire front end and im getting an alignment tomorrow to fix the front end. alignments arent cheap and i dont want to pay for a 3rd alignment after i weld this in.

thank you!

Yes and no. If you’re coming from an extended pan hard that was used to re-center the axle and the axle centering did not change after the PCK then theoretically you haven’t changed the alignment.

However, front end alignments use the rear axle position as a baseline for measurement so in the real world, yes, I strongly advise it.

i think i have figured it out and will be able to do only one alignment this weekend after the PCK is installed. this would really be much easier if i had more than one car. walking to the (commuter) bus stop in the rain and dark gets old after a while.

thanks again!

i went through the first half of this thread trying to look for other users setups and what hole they put the panhard bar on the frame side and surprisingly i didnt see anyone list their setup/lift. Mine is a 3" lift all around. almost flat, much better than what it was!

edit:hopefully you can tell but on the frame side i used the hole closest to the ground. it seems as if this setup is pretty much perfect for a 3" lift.

I can't tell from here, but is the frame end of the panhard lower than the axle end? (if so, I'd go up a hole for times when you're carrying weight)

its the angle of the picture. i went out three different times in one day and tried to get a good picture before just settling on this one. it is almost flat, just slightly higher on the frame side.

luckily i dont usually carry weight other than my spare tire in the 'trunk' and the occasional shooting/camping gear.

btw i see what you mean about having to mod the spacers for the middle hole. if i ever do that i will just end up buying a spare set of spacers to mod.

Keith,
One more question re 5th gen; from looking at your web site, it looks like I need only one piece on the axle side, is that correct?
Cheers
