Fumes when accelerating..

So when I hit the gas pedal to go at a high speed quickly, I get like a burning smell or something from the engine. A/C is on and window was open a bit. Anyone have this issue? Should I get it looked at? Does it every time I slam the gas to go fast quickly. I'm not pedalling it to the floor tho.

Yes it was cracked open as well. I guess I try having it closed and see if it continues.

Ever notice how your how truck can be clean, but the back window has dust on it right after you drive it?

The back of all vehicles have a vortex when moving. Picture a little tornado coming from the back of the vehicle.

If you have the back window cracked, that little tornado sucks exhaust into the vehicle. It's aerodynamics and the law of physics. ;-)

Some vehicles are more prone than others. SUV's with a large, flat tailgate being the most prone short of an 18 wheel semi trailer.

Toyota Sequoia's do the same thing.

Any exhaust shop can vent it out the side behind the mudflap. Just dont go to short or you will still get some smell.

There's a few on the forum that have had a muffler shop re-route their exhaust to the side, which reportedly cures this problem. I'm thinking of doing that in the near future, particularly now that summer is almost here.

It does help if you roll the back door windows down a bit too. The idea is to get enough air flowing through the vehicle to offset the vortex.

Yeah I accelerated this morning with the hatch window up, and no fumes. So deff the vortex.

This thread has a ton of good info. It's a pretty straightforward job for a muffler shop and won't run you more than $100 unless you get some crazy exhaust tip. Haven't smelled exhaust since having it done.
