i fill once a week, no matter where the needle is, most of time its between 1/4 & 1/2.
last time my light came on for gas it took 21 gallons to top it off.
I avg. about 17 mpg.
rarely will i let light come on.

I like to stretch the range of any new vehicle I buy. Realistically filling up everytime the needle reaches halfway isn't ideal for me. I live in hawaii and if a natural disaster occurred (knocks on wood) there really isn't a place to drive to, unlike the mainland.

I have found that you can put an additional 2.5 gals in the T4R tank AFTER the fuel-hose-auto-stop activates. I know that you're not supposed to do this, merely pointing this out for informational purposes.

It holds 23 gallons but about 21 useable with 2 gallons left when it reads zero miles. But,you shouldn't really let it get past zero if you can help it as the electric fuel pump is cooled by the fuel and heat could shorten it's life.

That being said I thought for sure I was going to run out of gas one time travelling thru west Texas when a gas station closed real early and had to stretch it to the next exit. I was hyper mileing going 50mph for 40 miles after it hit zero before I got to the next gas station.When I filled up, it took 22.79 gallons!Had to be running on fumes!

I did the same thing on our last trip home from CO. I pulled my camper from Durango, CO to Flagstaff, AZ without filling up. My ScanGuage showed .15 of a gallon in the tank, and she took almost 23 gallons. Only time I did that, just wanted to see if it could be done.

There is a charcoal evap canister that absorbs gasoline fumes when filling, then sends them to the throttlebody when engine is running. If you overfill and soak that charcoal and get liquid gasoline in the system, you can get DTC codes.
