Back home on island with my runner, THANK GOD!

Over the past couple days got some things accomplished:

• Oil Change

• Coolant change

• Diff Drop installed

• Degreased & Undercoated the whole undercarriage

Sill to come in the near future:

• 
  LC 8 wraps and Tundra coil overs, just waiting on them to be shipped back from the mainland

• 
  Replace CV axle - drivers side CV boot is torn and a half

Also, when I accelerate there is a belt ticking sound, but I replaced all the belts less then a year ago and they look fine.
I'm thinking it is one of the idler pulleys/tensioners... has anyone else experienced any noises/problems related to that?

Had a pretty eventful last couple of days. In order to fix a ticking noise I replaced the power steering pump which was a pretty large PITA.
Coincidently my radiator blew the day I replaced the power steering and replaced that as well. Both PS Pump and Radiator were from Oriellys,
and so far I have had horrible luck with the PS Pump. The steering was tight but I figured the PS fluid just needed to be primed through the system. So i
went to a friends house who had some mudholes and decided to get dirty... By the end of the wheeling trip my powersteering was completly gone.

So I am now waiting on another PS pump from oriellys, hoping the first one was just a bad pump. I had tripled checked everything else and rebuilt this pump
twice and no luck, so I am pretty pissed about that. But regardless I have some mudding pics that cheered me up

In more fun news, I received my Tundra/bilstein coilovers in the mail the other day, so I was now ready to revamp my suspension:

• Tundra/bilstein coilovers
• LC 8.25 wraps
• Toytec extended rear brake line
• Wheelers Diff drop (already installed)

As for my rear I was unsure what the previous owner had in there, but the ride was extremely soft/bouncy. Especially here on our poorly paved roads in hawaii, the rear of my runner would have an uncomfortable amount of body roll and was anything but stable. Although LC coils are known for being relatively soft I was expecting them to make my ride a little more stable, because whatever was in the back was HORRIBLE and was really saggy. Anyway, I only had time to do the LC's today but I would consider it a huge success so far. It was a PITA to stuff those guys in there but the ride is SO much better and I love the rake the car now has!
Here is a comparison of the old oils vs. the LC's, HUGE height difference, I am assuming the old ones are one of the OME model coils.


Guesstimated Measurements
Before:
Tire to Fender: ~8"
Hub to Fender: ~24"
After:
Tire to Fender: ~10.75"
Hub to Fender: ~25.75"
estimated gain from previous coil = 1.75-2"


I love how much better the rear rides now, just a testament of how crappy it used to be. I will be installing the tundras within the next couple days, along with a new CV axle. Sorry there is not more pics with the rear lift in, I will take some tomorrow, so stay tuned.

Tundra coilover install & new cv axle

Got around to installing my tundra/bilstein coilovers
Here is a comparison of the tundras vs. the previous coilovers/spacers
As you can see the the new coilovers are almost an inch shorter that the spaced coilovers. That being said the tundras are on the lowest perch.

Also replaced the CV axle because the previous boot had a huge tear

With the tundras on the lowest perch, I lost about an inch in the front, but I am fine with that because if I wanted a spacer lift I would have bought a pink hummer haha. After the LC 8 wrap install the rear gained almost 2 inches, so there is a good amount of rake, which I love personally, but in the future I do want to get a spring compressor so I can raise the tundra's to the second or third perch.

UPS just dropped off my Cooper Discoverer STT Pro 305/70/16. Cant wait to get these mounted. Got these on amazon prime for about $285 each, and I was
extremely surprised amazon prime free shipping still worked... I have rarely had anything big shipped to me here in Hawaii without the shipping breaking the bank. Also just ordered a
set of FN five star wheels which should be in next week, cant wait to mount these new rubbers

Trip down to the valleys today, surf and cruise

As you can see I raised the front tundra coilovers because it was too short before. This was the first time wheeling with the "new" suspension, and I love the LC coils in the rear but the tundras are a little stiff up front, at least it gets the job done, hopefully settles in a little softer up front.

Also doing my best to squeeze every last mile out of these 265's, again, cant wait to get the 305's mounted

After owning a 2wd 97 runner as my first car I quickly realized I NEED a 4wd. I sold the 97 and picked up my 99 for 8k in January of 2015. I still consider this my first car since I payed for it. I bought it with about 180k on it, the timing belt was just done at 170k. ... Also came with a Supercharger...

How do the Billies with a 1.5 inch spacer ride??

My 5100's up front are relatively stiff, but I believe that is because the coils and struts are for the tundra which is a much heavier truck (and they are brand new). I think the fronts have more stiffness due to the tundra coils and spacers of course. Because my stock 4runner coils w/ billies previously were really soft. My 5100's in the back are real comfortable, I think for the price you cannot beat them.

Mounted the rubbers onto the wheels and stuffed them in
305/70/16 Cooper STT Pro on 16" FN Five Star with -25 offset... allowed me to get rid of the wheel spacers
I have been like a kid on christmas morning, so stoked how the truck looks, couldn't be happier
Gonna get them balanced and aligned tomorrow.

Which setting did you raise the front to? 2nd or 3rd perch? How do you like it so far?
