Getting new tires and would like to know if all terrains would fit

Hi, im new to the forums and i have a 2006 4runner, SR5, stock, with the stock tires and 15 inch rims. I need new tires asap and im stuck on wether i should get all terrains. I dont know if they would fit and what size i could go up to without it rubbing? A friend of mine was telling me i should get a suspension lift, or like a 1 or 2 inch lift using spacers. Im not sure what to look for or where to start really but my goal is to make my 4runner look more rugged. I found a website with a 3 inch lift for 220$ and im unsure how this would work with stock suspension? thanks any input would help!

Use the search feature on this forum, there are lot of members with different kind of setups and ton of threads with info you are looking for. It all depends upon what is ur aim, looks, real off-road, how much $$$ you can afford, etc.

BobbyZee is right, there are a ton of different setups on here, especially check the lift and tires sticky thread.

Without lift most members get away with 265/70R17 (265/75R16) which is about an inch taller than stock 265/65R17s. That's about as big as you can go with less than 3".

With a 3" lift you should be able to clear 275/70R17s or maybe 285/70R17s if you add wheel spacers and do some minor trimming.
