Gobi Axe-shovel bracket and fire extinguisher

So I'm getting a couple more things done before the big trip out to the FJ Summit.

First question. I picked up a fire extinguisher:

Where and how have you guys mounted yours?

Second question:
I ordered a Crovel Extreme.. and I also wanted to order the Gobi shovel/axe accessory bracket, but I can't find anywhere on the gobiracks.com website to order it!?!?!?

I already emailed Paul and Sandra, but I thought I'd check in here and see what other have run into.

Anyone have hands-on experience with the Crovel?

LOL .. yeah.. I like the shovel head better on the tactical, but the folding aspect of the regular extreme makes more sense from a storage standpoint.

Ya he made me look it up too.

I like it but $110 and ya still gotta buy a cover? And 30-90 day wait? Guess I'll stick with my surplus folding shovel, it's got a nice cover and best of all it was FREE :bigok:

No reason why you can't, your extinguisher doesn't need to be vertical. As long as the mount will hold it so it doesn't twist out you'll be good. :thumb3:

I think Joneseyyy has his mounted like that using a monkey fist. Check his posts, or you can wait until he's done modding with 4ShoreRunner today and responds to this thread!

I had mine rolling around for a long time. :toilet3:

Then I mounted it horizontal to my cargo platform:

A buddy of mine put a bug in my ear that it should be vertical. So I took that off because I wanted it vertical and it ended up banging around in the cup holder in the front door. :toilet3: (no picture of that....)

Recently I used well nuts to mount it in the rear cargo area by the passenger tail light. Pictures here:

I have a larger extinguisher that I can't find a good place to mount. Ideally it would have been in the back and the small one up by the drivers seat.

Yup looks good you got some metal to mount to there. Mine also rolls around the back and I like the monkey fists that joneseyyy's got so think I'll get 2 of them and use the same spot.

Quick question...what is that little box under the window? Looks like maybe the curtain air bag sensor :shrug:

BTW joneseyyy, your dog looks possessed in that pic :lmao:

That is exactly where I have mine mounted. It's been there for about 5 months now and hasn't come loose. I just mounted it with the screws that were provided with the fire extinguisher I bought.
 
I ordered my axe/shovel attachments from EAD Offroad per adio3x's recommendation.

EAD Offroad.

Bummer that there was no coupon that I could find. But at least shipping was free.

Update : well even though it said "in stock".. I just got the "3 to 6 week" delivery email.... Kind of annoyed with that, but hopefully it will get delivered before I head off to Colorado.

wouldnt it be easier to just have a buncha stuff on order and pick it up in colorado since you're going there anyways?

if i lived anywhere remotely close to colorado or was planning to go there i'd just do that.


sucks to hear that it said they were in stock and now you are having to wait 3-6 weeks.

My bad man, I should've told you the owner is more like a vendor, kind of like what Mark (Ride) does. I don't think Gobi has that stuff made and ready to go out, I had to wait like 3-4 weeks to receive my shovel mount.
