Good price on FJ suspension

Sometimes you can find them for free (or cost of shipping) from FJ owners who are upgrading and just want to get rid of them. As a point of comparison, I paid $100 for all four springs and shocks with zero miles on them (taken off at the dealership by the owner, who was having the dealer put in an upgraded suspension and lift kit).

That's about right. I commonly see sets sell for $80-$100, but also have seen them go for free. It all comes down to how much time you have, if you have time to wait it out, do so and you'll eventually come across a great deal.

found mine on craigslist. The guy almost put them up on the FJ forums but was trying to do local first. 150 for the TRD bilsteins and springs, fully assembled, 8k miles. I talked him down from 200 but it was still a great deal. One day I'll get around to actually installing them....

Mine are the silver Bilsteins they came out of a 08 Trail Teams. witch I think are the same as the ones that come on the offroad pkg as well.i'm sure someone on here can confirm for sure. If you can find a set still put together that can save you some time on the install. Mine were a bolt on deal no special tools and the stock studs work with toytecs 1/2" net lift spacer just lay it on top and bolter in.

I got mine for Craiglist for about $150 plus shipping while a friend got his free from a totaled car!

No way I'd ever pay over $200. The FJ Bilstein's are great, but not that great. For a little over $300 you can get a brand new set of Bilstein 5100's with a lifetime warranty. Coils are pretty easy to pick up relatively cheap (under $100). Total cost is around $100 more than what those are priced at, but end result is new shocks instead of used (don't let me discourage you, the used shocks are great IF the price is right).

FJ springs make the ride a little more firm, which makes the ride smoother. A lot of the small bumps in the road are no longer felt, and things like speed bumps are much smoother with the new springs.

can you be a little bit more descriptive here? I know that question makes me sound like an ahole but I'm not meaning to. I honestly am wondering what you mean by firmer but smoother. Again not questioning you or trying to be sarcastic just want a little more description before I pull the trigger.
