Hey guys, I just got a quote on 265/75/16 from Wal-Mart for $176/tire + $7 lifetime balance + Valvestems + $10 road hazard = $792 + tax = 843.48. But the tread looks different than what I see online + it doesn't have as aggressive side knobs. Could this be an older model possibly?

Looks like you're looking at the Wrangler Authority. I'm hoping some of these rumors of oil prices dropping down a bit are true so the tire pricing will (typically) follow suit. Would love a set of Duratecs as my next set but the price is hard to swallow... coming from a guy used to paying less than $500 for a set of tires all his life anyway. =)

LR C are great for 4runners. That is what I have run for years now. I wheel the snot out of them and they hold up great. I can drive at 75mph+ and they feel solid.

To previous poster about different looking tires from walmart...They do sell duratracs but you need to specify. They definitely quoted you the goodyear authority tires.

Bringing this thread back to life...Heres whats up. I have a 2000 with Sonoran Steel 1.2A (which is still for towing and what-not) and a set of terra grapplers. I'm considering the duratracs in a 265/75/16 depending on what input/advice you guys have. I'm not going any bigger cause I need the power for towing and have no desire to re-gear it or anything. It seems like I should go with the D or E load range for the towing, but its already a pretty stiff ride. So when I tow, its usually about 3,000lbs. I don't tow that frequently, but when I do its at least a few hundred miles. So what do you guys think...?

This picture says a lot, but has anyone had any issues with sidewall cuts on the LR C's when offroad? Some of the trails around here have some sharper rocks, and I'm wondering how they would hold up aired down since they are only 2-ply.

I am running load range E and absolutely love them. With my setup the ride is not stiff at all. They have gotten me through some pickles in the snow and on the trails. A couple shots from Hollister Hills:

Load range C are 6 ply, not 2. D's are 8, and E's are 10.

Those are ply ratings. A holdover from a time when strength was actually measured by the number of plies. Most LT tires have two carcass plies regardless of load range. The plies are just made a little stronger for higher load ranges.
