Goofy Engine Light On

Hi folks,

The reason I said goofy is on my way to state inspection garage, the 4runner decided to throw codes!!! What in the world!!! Any way, Here is what I've got now, engine light, VSC TRAC and VSC OFF.

Turned around went back home, scaned for code and it is P0136 " O2 sensor circuit malfunction ( bank1 sensor 2)"

Which is bank1? Is sensor 2 equal post O2 sensor?

Here the answers from yahooing around:

Bank1 equals passenger side and sensor 2 is post CAT O2. Thank you for reading.

Called the dealer and the price for one post cat O2 sensor is 250 bucks ouch!!!! Screwed the dealer.

Picked up a Bocsh universal for 60 bucks. Swapped it out today.
For those of you who wants to go with Bocsh universal then here is how I hooked the four wires.


- The two BLACK wires from OE are for heat go to the two WHITES on the Bocsh universal.
- The BLUE OE is signal goes to BLACK Bocsh Universal.
And,
- The WHITE OE goes to the GRAY Bocsh universal.

It took me about two hours to do the job, so far the 4runner only has been drive 15 miles, time will tell I guess.

If your under 100,000 miles i believe your still covered by the emission warrantee?

There is a 100k emission warranty? I thought that was only body rust through. 36k is the standard warranty. If you are under 36k the replacement should be covered under warranty. Outside of that 60 bucks vs 250 is a great deal if they function the same. I had 2 replaced under warranty (some faulty lot according to the dealer)...
