Got an official build date!

I ordered my 2014 SR5 Premium about two weeks ago and just heard from the dealer today that it posted in their system with a build date of Nov. 26. They think it will be here in New Mexico by late December. I spoke with the sales manager and both him and I were both surprised that it's being built so fast. I'm not complaining though! :whoo:

I am hoping I can actually pick it up on 12-2, but if it doesn't arrive until then, gonna have to wait for dealer prep before I can get it.

plus I have custom settings list I want them to set before I get it. already printed it out with which options.

#1 on the list, turn off the seat belt buzzer.

Talked to the dealer this morning. 4runner is built and is shipping from Japan tomorrow!! Dealer expects it here around Xmas. Merry Xmas to me.

Talked to dealer to see if my 4runner had arrived in LA port, and was being shipped to NM.
I now got the real scoop. It's not going to get to LA until Dec. 17.
Also he said it was super white. I ordered silver. WTF!!?? He is going to look at the ordering paperwork and talk to the manager.
I'm pissed about the color! I had talked about super white with them, but ultimately decided on Silver, and paperwork reflects this.
We'll see what they say.

my 2014 is silver and its been through several rains , still looks like it just got a carwash even from a few feet away(silver hides/blends the dirt real good)

White was my second choice, so I'll see what it looks like. If they give me a better deal on the 4runner, I might just take it.

Okay guys, here's the scoop. I guess my 4runner got redirected to another dealer, and they replaced it with this white one in the system. After they figured out what happened, they were able to redirect my 4runner back here, and it will be here next week.
It was just a scare. Everything looks good, for now at least.

Unless things have changed recently, the dealer can't actually order one from the factory. They can see what is scheduled to come into port through their distributor and can cherry pick vehicles with trim/color/options before arrival. This is why the Toyota.com website makes you enter a zip code to "build your own."

For example (I'm making up the specifics of the scenario), say Gulf States does not import Trail Editions with KDSS and Nav, even though other distributors do. The Florida Toyota dealer won't be able to "order" one in that configuration, but they might be able to do a dealer trade with a dealership outside of Gulf States.

when I ordered mine, documented in the 2014 thread, I selected what color, packages and accessories I wanted. on the dealers computer the new car GM logged into the internal Toyota allocation system to select what I wanted, heck he even let me pick and choose from the check boxes that his dealer/region is allowed to select. luckily all I wanted was the LE, FE package, and the options located in my sig.

now this order is a request for allocation for the dealer, not a order per se. once that configuration is actually built by Toyota, it is allocated to that dealer. now my situation is different since we picked the dealers first allocation request and he was allowed 3 to choose, so my request was quite a bit different than yours probably since this wasn't your dealers first allocation request probably.

Actually, you can do a factory order. It is a lot harder. You can only get the options available and not cherry pick items inside a package.

Many dealers will say you can't do a factory order or will refuse to since is reduces their vehicle allocation from date of order to delivery (many weeks).

Many dealers will say yes it is a factory order when it is an allocation preference (as referenced above).

There are a dozen threads on members doing both. Some great outcomes, others not. In both cases, a long wait.

I ordered a LE on Nov 7th and still haven't received a build date.

for me my allocation request went in on 25-SEP and it was delivered to the dealer on 02-DEC.

hit port on 13-NOV and was suppose to hit the dealer originally on the 26-NOV, but got pushed to the following monday due to turkey day.

So it's here!! I was at a Xmas party last night that was being held at the Toyota dealership because it was a Route 66 themed party. Nonetheless I talked to the manager and he told me my 4runner was out back. I immediately ran outside and started drooling over my new car. Mmmmmm........
I probably won't pick it up until later this week, but it's nice to know it's here. I'm super excited it only took like 5 weeks to get here. Pics soon to come..
