Got my DuraTracs mounted today!

Drove about a 100 mile round trip today in a nice East Coast snowstorm. From Sykesville, MD to York, PA and back... all backroads. DuraTracs gripped like a Polar Bear. Very pleased with their snow performance. :biggrin2:

Be happy you got a pair that balanced....eeekkkkk! I have 2 that needed 7ounces each and they still are a bit off over 70mph. Not that I'm a speed demon, but be wary, out-of-round tires this aggressive is a potential problem. Believe me I know, 4 balancing sessions later.

If you want to buy these, make sure to speak to the tire dealer how they handle tires that are hard to balance.

I've had mine above 70mph a few times now. Didn't notice anything feeling out of balance. Smooth sailing. Just a nice hum.

I did, however, up my PSI from 34 to 44 after reading up on the air pressure required in an E Rated tire.

I had my weights put on the inside of the rim and no issues from since they left the shop. I'll have to see how much each wheel took to balance and see if there's consistency.

Is this that hot dog joint near Bailey(?) off 285? if so, how is it? I've been wanting to check it out!
 
I have about 5K on a set of 33x12.5x15 c rated duratracs on my 96 taco.
I love them! live in snow country and have to say these are great snow/ice tires- i do lower the pressure to around 25lbs for better grip daily driving- and grip they do. (7lbs. for snowwheeling)
Mine balanced great at about 3oz each (inner rim flat weights) on a set of alcoa forged rims- earlier poster may have had out of true rims?
No wear yet.
Definite hum on hwy but these are almost as aggressive as a MT and not nearly the noise.
Best tire out is the Toyo MT. At half the $$ though, the GY Duratrac gets my vote.
 
Duratracs, LT285/70/17

Initial impressions are very good. They ride better than the Nitto's even though I stepped up to an LT. I attribute this to the Duratracs handling the load better. I think the Nitto's were too squishy, so although these are firmer, they actually rock the truck less over speed bumps, driveways, etc which gives a smoother feel overall. Potholes feel slightly stiffer, but I am running them at a higher psi which I may adjust. Normally maintained roads feel just as smooth.

I will post up after I get some highway miles on them, and after I take them off-road. So far I am extremely happy with the purchase, and I have great expectations for them.

I've had mine on since October and with about 5k on 'em I really am happy with the purchase and can't wait to start hitting the trails when the snow melts a little more. (snow wheeling has it's place but I'm not into getting stuck and shoveling or pulling others out for the day)
 
thanks, RonMAIDEN. i'm curious about the E load range on the new 2010 TEs and what PSI is appropriate for best performance/safety. the Duratracs aren't LT are they?

Toyota dealership of course says the E load range is a bad choice for the 4Runner... wondering what the real world has to say.

I wonder if they only went with the "C" class MT/R's on the Rubicon when they tested it?

I'd like to know too. I'm back and forth with the MT/Rs in 265 "c" load and 275s "E' load. the stock tires are 39lbs in weight. The MT/Rs are 51lbs and the 275s are 59lbs. OUCH>

The runner with 275s MT/Rs on it in another forum looks sooo good. I swear the 275s look a lot bigger on the truck and fit it better.
