...of head lights. I'm planning to do a projector retrofit, but I have yet to pick all the components. I think I have settled on Hella Evo-XR bi-xenon projectors, and I`d like halos, but the rest is completely up in the air.
what have you guys done?

oh, and:worthless:

No one? Really?

There's been a bunch of us that have done HID retrofits. Just look through some of the "Build Thread" section builds . I was the first to DIY and they are still holding up good.
Replaced the original hazed top lenses with 2012 lenses earlier this summer when I retrofitted the fogs with HID's....... HID Retrofit

I say no halos looks to ricey.

I went with FX45 bi-xenon with the work done by Lightwerkz. Super happy with the communication and product.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Lightwerkz was going to be my top pick, but I think they are victim of their own success. Sent them an email over a month ago asking for a quote and a few questions about what was possible, still haven't received a reply.

Great learning resource here:

Sponsor of above forum, and excellent vendor for hid products.

The Retrofit Source online: headlight upgrades for all applications

Use the Google search above, for "HID".
I`ve actually been reading up on HID Planet lots. Those guys over there really seem to know their stuff. I`ve also been looking through build threads here, Philsey, Harper7 - did you guys need to trim your shrouds to have them sit flush in the reflectors?

You're probably right, but I think they get so many tire kickers via email, that they just can't deal with it.

Call them, ask for Caesar, he's the owner. That's what worked best for me.

Or: [email protected]

TRS did some retrofits for some of the members here off a group buy. I don't remember seeing anyone posting what their results were tho.

Hang in there, it's worth it.

I emailed Caesar directly to let him know I was shipping my lights back for repair. He replied right away and should be receiving them today. We've had several correspondence the entire week. Great customer service and they stand behind their work.

Why not a pair of TE headlights? Purchased a set of TE headlights for my BP 4Runner and the black pearl in the TE headlights really make it stand out.

Although I agree regarding looks, when talking about "projectors" and the like, it's the performance of the lights themselves. The TE lights still use the same media to produce light. It is just the coloration of the bezel that makes them different and as I said and agreed, better looking...but what these folks are doing makes the lights themselves, brighter and thus "safer" (as long as they adjust them) and more utility when driving down an unlit trail at dusk, dawn or night. What they are doing is a good thing. ...be safe.

I got that part. just thinking that if one was going to purchase a pair of OEM headlights why not get a pair of the TE ones...maybe just me. here is a picture of my retro with TE headlights.

Ahh, understand now, and agree. It would save a lot of the work, one would get both functionality and beauty! Be safe.

Lightwerkz can do any paint scheme you want when the lights are open - they do it all the time.

Nice....I've seen the work Lightwerkz does and it looks great but, I personally would never pay for a retroit especially after having done a couple myself.

I finally bit the bullet today and shipped my lights, projectors, etc off to HID Illusionz in Brooklyn, NY. I had every intention of taking on this project myself, but with lack of time I know I would have rushed it an done a shoddy job.

I think Philsey was right about tire kickers. I emailed five different retrofitters and only received responses from two. So far my communication with HID Illusionz has been great even though I only sent out my lights today. I was quoted $300 for the labor which I think is a good price. I checked some reviews of theirs from some Honda forums and it seems that people are getting quality work and are pleased with the results.

I'm in southern CT so they should have them them beginning of the week and they expect a non-rush turn around time of 72 hours.

Once I get them back I'll post pics and thoughts if anyone else is interested.

Supplies I sent them:

2 OEM headlights in perfect condition from eBay (These were real cheap)
FX-R projectors
Apollo Shrouds from TheRetrofitSource

Still have to decide if I'm going to have the reflector bowl painted black.

I did a bunch of reading awhile ago...I'm not sure I'd go with the Hellas. I'd do the Fx-Rs, or if you can, the LS460's. You'll be happier in the long run.

So my lights are done and on the way from HID ILLUSIONZ. I originally stated that it was going to be a 72 hour turn around time. This timeline was given to me from another retrofitter and was not actually promised by HID ILLUSIONZ. My mistake there. Be that as it may, the lights were delivered to them on the afternoon of Oct 2 and were ready to be shipped Oct 11. This timeline was fine for me as I shipped them a spare set of lights to retrofit. Their communication was awesome throughout the process. I was originally quoted $300 for the labor. Three days ago I received an email from them telling me they had a group buy going and that the labor on new orders dropped to $200. Without even asking they knocked $100 off my order even though I had agreed to the $300. They have been a standup bunch.

Here's the link to my lights on their site:

Also the link to the groupbuy info if anyone is interested:

Once they are here I'll post more pics and give my impressions.
