Like many other people my clock would not work and i truly had no use for it. My new head unit about 10 inches below displays the time and date. This will work for 99-02 not sure about earlier models as the clock is in a different location. I wanted a compact phone holder that did not stick way out and was easy to see and operated the screen.
I have been running this for over a year now and it is by far one of my favorite mods. Buy this unit off of Amazon.

Take a scrap piece of wood and trace and cut out the size and shape of your clock. Paint it black so that you can not see the wood behind once its mounted. Slide wood in where clock normally would go. Drill two holes through the back plastic piece into the wood and get some black sheet metal screws mount just below your hazard signal button. This holds your phone super strong. The only time it moves is during really heavy wheeling.
This will spin 360 so you can mount the phone and spin for widescreen view. It will also pull out a bit and you can tilt towards driver seat or passenger seat for better view.
FYI you can get the same unit off of amazon prime it just costs more. If you order this one you have to wait a bit longer for shipping but you save some money. Mine took about 7 days to arrive.
