Great Experience - Toytec and RCI Sliders (w/ Pics)

I wanted to share something positive:



I had a great experience with Toytec this last week.

4Runner 10 & Up



I noticed last weekend they were a distributor of RCI components. I have some RCI skids and have been very happy with them. I've been considering sliders for awhile and decided on the RCI sliders. I decided to order the sliders from Toytec so I called them on Monday morning.



I spoke with Drew, who was very helpful, answered all my questions, and took all the time necessary. At the end of the conversation, I mentioned this forum and got an additional 5% off. I expected 3 or 4 weeks for fab and shipping and all that.



Wednesday I got a call from Drew saying the sliders had shipped directly from RCI, he gave me the tracking number, and on THURSDAY I had the sliders in the back of the truck. 3-1/2 days from placing the phone call I had my new sliders.



On to the pics:

The driver's side one weighs 43lbs, the passenger side one weighs 51lbs.



I wanted the full tread plating, but I personally don't like the style of plating that RCI uses. And, I am trying my best to save weight where possible. So, I bought some ALUMINUM diamond plate (0.125") and cut out my pieces.

Thos top plates weigh 2lbs each.



I'm not brave enough to try and weld aluminum to steel, so I'll be welding tabs to the sliders so I can bolt down the plates with some stainless button head bolts. These are actually cabinet corner braces from home depot, but they'll do just fine and I don't have to make my own tabs:

I am going to get everything powder-coated textured black. I'll post some more pictures when done.



I can't say enough about the good experience and great service I got at Toytec and I'm very happy with the RCI sliders.

You did a really excellent job cutting that diamond plate to make it fit into the sliders. I hope the project is a success. What kinds of tools did you use for the cuts?

I used a jig saw with a metal blade. It cut like butter. Thanks for the compliments. We'll see.

The cuts are very nice,

but I'm concerned you're setting up the perfect science experiment for galvanic corrosion.

Dissimilar metals in contact in a corrosive environment are basically a battery.
One metal will experience accelerated corrosion.

I'd strongly consider skipping the plate

I'm hoping that by powder coating all the parts (separately) prior to assembly, it will prevent any conduction and corrosion.

I needed to post some "finished" pictures. I got the sliders and top plates powder coated. Two step process - some sort of zinc or zinc phosphorous primer followed by a satin black textured powder coat. I really like the look at feel of it. It matches my roof rack (powder coated the same way) and blends well with the textured black plastic on the vehicle.

I used stainless hardware to bolt the plates to the sliders. Thought about painting the hardware black, but kind of like the detail. Anyways...overthinking it a bit...they're sliders.

The coating of the sliders and plates were only $60 - well worth it in my opinion. When I scratch up the bottoms, I'll touch them up with rattle can bedliner or something to duplicate that textured look (but it'll be on the bottom so who cares, right?).

No - the plates don't vibrate or make noise - they're bolted down tight.

So all in, I'm at about $650 for some really stout, quality sliders, with top plate powder coated and installed. I'm happy.

I'll throw a +1 for RCI sliders, and RCI in general. I ordered mine with the RCI plate and pre-powdercoated. They were very well packaged and arrived in pristine condition.
