Hey guys, I want to see if any of you think there would be an issue with this idea. (I tried multiple searches but had no luck).
I bought a Comet HD-5-3/8-24, and the only flush place to mount it on my rear hatch (2013 4runner) is towards the upper end of the hatch; however I'd ideally like to mount it lower. The issue I have is the support tab sticking out of the mount. My idea is to grind off that support tab (pictured below). By grinding it off I hope to be able to clear the mount somewhere in the area of the tail lights (which protrude beyond the hatch).
I assume that support tab is in place to prevent excessive flex, but I wouldn't imagine flex that drastic.
opinions?
