Grinding sound while on D or R

I hear a grinding sound (high pitch) while on drive or reverse when the truck is stationary, it is not loud but noticeable when the windows are down. The sound is not present when in N or P, Is this normal? Truck has 17,400 miles. I need some opinion before going to the stealership.

Thanks in advance!

I would go out on a limb and say that any girding sound while your transmission is in drive or reverse is NOT normal.

You're under warranty, take it in and see what's going on before the problem gets worse.

Several of us had this issue while back. See some threads below.
Mine still has that sound but is not that loud. It did not change worse or better for these years. I think it is related to some heat shield and I do not worry about it anymore.
