Griot's Garage treatment question....attn: waskilly

I am going to wash my truck and stick it in the garage this afternoon for the full griot's treatment this weekend. I am going to clay it then Machine polish 3, then Best of Show. I know you have tried the tip of applying the wax, letting it sit, applying another layer of wax on top of that, then removing it. Did you find that to work pretty well? In the Detailer's Handbook, it says it gives it an even deaper look to the paint. Do you think it would be insane to try three layers or more?

After I wash today I am hoping to get it clayed tonight, then polish in the morning, that way I will have plenty of time the rest of the day tomorrow. I plan on letting it sit for the recommended 2hrs between layers of wax. It is going to be nice and sunny on Sunday, so I can get some glamour shots then. :artist:

I don't think you'd get any added benefit going more than (2) layers of wax on such new paint. The real key, the way I see it, is not the wax, so much as it is the polish, escpecially on black, which is the foundation for making the wax show off the paint in pristine condition. I'm sure it will look "fabulous" regardless.

After you wash with DAWN to get all the wax, etc off, then you'll see what the polish and wax were hiding, especially on a black rig. Polishing is what really deepens the shine in my opinion, not the wax. I'll love to come to a Griot's party, but my youngest son turns (2) this weekend, so I'm spoken for.

fixed it up for me.

You better stop complaining about "working" on the weekend, as when you get some little momos running around the house you won't "work" near as often. :boink: My (2) year old, Brandon, is going to be the mechanical one, he rides the vacuum cleaner while his mother uses it and instead of playing outside he'd rather help me work on the deck, hammer, drill, etc. It scares my (3) year old. Wouldn't trade them for anything! Now if they just understood which tool was which, I'd have an assistant(s)!

Long story attached with why it looked like crap.
Short version: Dealer messed up the paint.
Brian fixed it. End of story and I am VERY happy with it now.

That is why I told the dealership not to wash my truck when I bought it. First this thing I did was to take it home, wash it and wax it......well actually the firs thing I did was ride around, take it home, remove the dealership sticker and the pin stripes.....then I washed and waxed it.
