Had a tint job done but no graphics:(

I had the windows tinted in the truck yesterday and was going to have the factory style graphics also put on. The tint job took all day about 7 hours to do. The shop (Sign It Up in Port Richey Florida) was very meticulous and took the vent windows and sliders all apart to do a nicer job. The tint job came out great and it is all legal 35% front and 15% rear.

As for the graphics that is another story…..I bought the kit from a guy off Craig’s list for $100. The story was he had sold the 4runner before he had a chance to install them he said he paid $300 for the kit.
After a full cleaning and clay bar job the tech at Sign It Up laid them out on my T4R the graphic did not setup right at all. The front was to short at the nose point and to long at the door handle. After trying to compensate and center the graphic it just looked like a miss cut hack job.
As for the rear graphic, the same thing….miss cut and all wrong!!
Needless to say I did not try to install the rest of the kit I just peeled off what was on the truck and trashed it:moping:

The cost for the tint was $145. This is a great deal considering the amount of labor involved.

Did the Craigslist seller buy the stripes from James Dean? I like your truck sooo much better without the disco graphics though.

Did you buy new gold "Toyota 4Runner" emblems for your B pillars? Does Toyota still sell them? Have you ever noticed that they look all cloudy on most old 4Runners? I'm talking about the emblems next to the driver's window. I was hoping someone would do a thread on how to restore them.

Drawing graphics is from JD website. Used my '88 truck as example (!) I don't think they matched S2K's tho! He's got a badazz truck w/o the disco graphix anyway! :lmao:

I'm not sure where he got them and I have not had a return email from him about the issue. I don't expect a refund but maybe a sorry or something?

I talked to the graphic guy about the B pillar badges, making a sticker with a white 4Runner script with black background.

I know there is a company in Canada that makes the graphics and they look like the real deal too. They cost about $400 for the set but I’m guessing there worth it.

I am on the fence about going for another set I too like the truck clean as well. I would like to find the body side molding.

Inspired by your photos, I called a local shop here in Cali. I was quoted $300.00 just for the shell/rear window. Doh! This price does not even include the driver and passenger windows.

Being that I have the SR5 with factory tint, I think I may just pass on tinting the windows, at least for the time being.

Yours is shaping up quite well, if I might add. Looks great!

Wow shop around a little more. I had 9 windows done all together the 4 in the doors, the 4 sliders, and the rear tailgate. The 2 rear fixed windows hav the factory shade stuff on them so I did not tint those.

Looking Good. Good Luck in trying to get James Dean to respond to anything either. I sent him a couple of emails pertaining to some of the things he was doing to his 4Runner build. IE Roof Rack and front hitch and still havent heard anything from him. And thats been over a year ago/
