HAHAHAHA My 4runner weighs 4411lbs

ok i still have no clue where you guys are getting this from cause most sports cars weigh about that much,

True sports cars don't weigh close to 3800lbs. Most serious sports cars are in the low 3000lb range and even the NSX is about 2900 and my '93 Eclipse was at 3100. Cars that weigh in at 3800lbs are considered pigs which include the last Mitsu 3000GTs and the Current Shelby Mustangs which for as many ponies as they put out their 1/4 mile times suffer from the weight. Even the portly last gen F-bodies were under 3600.

Mazda's new Miata comes in under 2500lbs.

Most dragstrip scales get out of whack very frequently and need to be calibrated but I weighed my truck minus the spare at Bandi right after the Mile High Nats (which the scales has been recently calibrated) and it was almost right on 4100 which is pretty close to Toyotas numbers in the '99 4Runner brochure I have and stated on several websites.

There's no way your truck can weigh in at 4400lbs which is pretty close to the numbers Toyota gives for the 4th gens unless you got some serious gear loaded in it.

If you show up at bandi this spring I'll come up and take some pics/vids and see your truck in person and welcome to the forums. :bigok:

The third gen rx7s weigh in at a little under 3000lbs. My corvette was around 3200, if i remember correctly. The almighty supra is a whale at around 3400lbs.

Oh, and here is a little tidbit of information. The single turbo rx7 that i built was making a little over 450 at the wheels. It would take a 600 hp supra to run with that car.

even stock for stock. the rx7 was making 255 at the crank, and the supra was like 320(i think) They were pretty even stock. So, power to weight ratio does play a factor in how fast something is.

And, what would a forum be if you didnt get into an arguement, or pissing match every once in awhile? this is the longest thread that has been on here in awhile! we are generating lots of traffic!.

I know isnt great. Im loving this. So, it dont understand about the whole weight thing. Im confused and i was just saying that i found it a little odd that someone said their 4runner weighed 3100lbs earlier and i remember hearing that the new Nissan GTR weighs like 3400lbs. So thats why i said that. BTW i sent you a pm that you should read scott

My truck is stock as a clock all the way down to the jack. not to mention a box that houses 2 12" subs. Add me to the mix(im 230), and id say you probably have me by at least 500lbs. one other thing you did not take into consideration is the size of my tires. Im running 285/75/16 tires, that is going to also play a factor. Just wondering, will your truck spin the tires? even power braking?

yes my truck will spin the tires power braking. i was actually gonna post a video of that later today and no i had all my weight minus the trailer hitch back in my 4runner, including a subwoofer too. So um you got me at tires but i seem to remeber you tell mike yesterday that his 225's didnt make that big of a difference

Can't find this qouted weight earlier. Maybe I'm missing something or that's what is leading to some confusion in this thread.

Good luck with the buildup. Here's my take on it:

"There's no replacement for displacement."

sure there is! that is forced induction. How do you think the rotaries make the power being 1.3 liters of displacement(some argue 2.6) Turbos, my good man! not to mention the liter motorcycles that are turbocharged. those things are putting down some serious hp.

i dont recall ever saying that.. 225s will make a pretty big difference. tire size basically screws with the gearing...say, a person has a 4.10 gear in their rear end, and they are running 225/60/15s, take the same truck and put some 33/10.50/15 on it. the tire size will make the gearing seem like say.....a 3.23 gear. which means that it will take longer to get from 0-60. not to mention the added weight. BUT if you can overcome wind resistance, and the added weight, you will have a higher top speed.

Ok sorry, ive been in buena vista all day so i havent been able to answer some questions and bullshit. Ok first of all my 4runner is not stock. I sold that 4.0 to a buddy of mine that works for toyota and as part of the deal he's getting me a supercharger for next to nothing. BUT i still got a lot of money for that 4.0 (+trans) and since i cant get the s/c till june i decided to blow all that money on other things to get my runner prepared for the s/c. Once i get everything installed and tuned, ill tell everyone "WHAT I HAVE CREATED". To give you guys a bit of a teaser i just had the heads rebuilt (excuse my lack of knowledge about engines) but i don't really understand what was done. I do know how ever that my engine is now a 3.8l and that i told my genius of a mechanic that i saw a 2" pulley on urd and gadget says you better have some head work done if you want to use that. So i went to my mechanic and said "do head work" and he did...and now its faster. I also purchased a number of things from urd that are going to and are making this thing scream.
Second... when you're looking up the weight of a 4runner look at it really close... YOU'RE READING IT IN KILOGRAMS!!! Lets do the conversion from KG to LBS together. The gross curb weight of a 4runner is 2,381KG now multiply that by 2.2... lets do this together 2,381 x 2.2 = 5238.2lbs ok and now that we've got that out of the way.
No im not stupid, no i dont think a stock 4runner is fast and for the idiot who said and i quote, "so you're saying that when you load up both 4runners with a equal amount of weight, his is faster. but when you remove said weight, yours somehow leaves his in the dust"... take a f*ckin physics class. That is what torque does and obviously the 1UZ-FE has more than me, plus the 4th gens weigh a heck of a lot more than the 3rd gens do. Think of like this; if you strap 10,000lbs to a Mclaren F1, then you strap 10,000lbs to a Ford F350 and you put them together in a drag race guess which ones gonna win. for all you idiots out there the f350 is gonna win. why because it has more torque. but then remove that weight and do the same drag race, well this should be a no-brainer.
and next for all you pessimistic a**holes who say i dont know what im talking about, I've been racing ATV's for some 15 years now, I own a Toyota Camry that i drive in the summer (so my runner isnt really my daily driver), i used to own a WRX (not sti) that i used to race all the time at bandimere and at my cousins private racing school/race track, and i used to own a 2000 Toyota Tacoma that i did a solid axle swap. I am the drummer of a pretty successful band and I love anything that has to do with cars and trucks (except Civics and Jeeps). So if i feel like doing something to my cars i just kinda do it. No reason, its just a hobbie i guess. and scott, i dropped about $10,000 into my tacoma and a year later sold it for $7,000, so to give you a straight answer i really dont care... and finally, I'm not here to impress you people or to get your acceptance, I'm here to get advice, give advice and maybe make a couple 4runner friends. Thats all and heres some pics of todays drive to Buena Vista.

Love,
Mr. Starr

i think it is you that needs to take a physics class because you obviously don't know what the hell you are talking about which has already been proved many times in this thread

Are you serious. You want to argue with me...over torque? c'mon man. Really?

Yeah, well I put my 4Runner on the bathroom scale and it weighed 350 pounds. I think that's the maximum the scale shows before it breaks, though.

Plus I bored out my engine too, so now it sits at about 6.5L and puts roughly 1224HP to the wheels with my triple turbo daisy chained setup. We're talking at least 50:1 compression ratio, running 150 octane rubbing alcohol and ethanol.

Im gald i made such a buzz. This is hillarious. I dont know where you guys get that the 4runner weigh 3100lbs whats wrong with you. Its weighs in at 5100lbs. May the arguments be continued.

I think it's hilarious too and I won't make judgments and am looking forward to meetying you this spring.

But there's no way a 4Runner weighs in at 5100lbs and I've weighed mine at two different NHRA sanctioned tracks and my friend's 4 wheel scale in his garage and they all were within 100lbs of my 4100lb weight at Bandi's scales. Where do you see 5100lbs since I'm just curious? A Suburban comes in at 5500lbs and there's no way a 3rd gen is only a few hundred pounds less.

Last gen Tacomas came in at about 3800lbs so 4100 for a 3rd gen is pretty much right on.

but according to the scale in my bathroom my 3rd gen weighs 350 pounds even, and that's with all my engine mods too???

Yes, but that's because you used helium in your tires to try to get better gas milage. That's making your truck "float" like a balloon. I took mine one step further, I duck taped my vent in the back shut and even filled the inside of my truck with helium! You should try it, it works wonders. My scangauge said I got 52MPG!!!

c'mon guys dont you know that my chrome exhaust tip gives me like 200hp. And my lambo doors give my truck the areodynamics of a lambo. Im curious, does the weigh stations along the highway calibrated for semi weights? Could that be why?
