Hail Damage Tonight

We'll I got hit pretty hard with hail tonight and lucky the OKC tornados didn't go 3 miles north. The hood, roof, front fenders and tops of the doors have some damage. The hood and roof took the worst of it.

Has anyone replaced the hood and the roof? If so what was the pay out on it?

So my question are after I get my insurance check should I get a trail hood?

And instead of getting the roof fixed I'll get the trail front fenders and trail rocker panel? I'm the only one who will see the roof and plan on owning the 4Runner over 200K (I've done this multiple times and keep my vehicles a long time).

All the other minor repairs I should have enough to do paintless dent repairs on.

I'll let everyone know what I decide to do...

Here is some hail pics and the last one shows the tornado that hit Edmond, OK (suburb of OKC) - you'll have to look for the tornado its center left. Pic taken by me out of my parent upstairs window...

We had passed through just a few moments earlier than when the first part of that tornado formed. Sucks...only to get hit hard in Kansas.

Man that sucks. Hope you get it worked out! You would be surprised what a pdr guy can repair these days... It may be worth getting the roof fixed.

I'm actually hoping insurance pays to have it all repaired. Then I'll fix the hood and see how much is left to get a few of the TE parts I want. The roof is not noticeable unless your 7' tall and is purely cosmetic as the damage isn't very bad. A lot of times they'll pay to have the entire "skins" replaced and painted which I'm purely guessing but could be in the 7-10k range.

Had significant roof and hood hail damage. Body shop here in chicago did a great job (cant even tell) and insurance paid for it after deductable. You may want to run the math and see if its worth fixing assuming you have a good body shop in your area.

Do you remember how much insurance paid out? Or how much the body shop bill was?

I had some pretty significant hail damage on my 4th Gen (~$5000). Insurance paid out everything but the deductible.

We replaced the hood for $400 (used obviously) and had someone repair the most noticeable dings on the other body panels for about $200. At that time, I had well over 100k miles on it and determined it didn't make financial sense to dump $5000 into body repairs. If the same thing happened to my '12, then I was completely repair it. The TE hood sounds like a good idea.

I'm going to fix everything but the roof cause its really inbetween the roof rails. Planning in using the roof money for TE rockers and TE front fender flares. And whatever is left over will be sliders, lift, UCAs, wheels & tires. It all really depends on how much they pay out.

I liked it for the pictures, not for the damage! That sucks! Hope insurance and the body shop get you squared away.

That would be easy Repair for paintless dent repair. much better then bondo/paint and cheaper too. I bet insurance will not pay for roof replacement,
honestly damage is not that bad to justify replacement.
painless dent repair will not lower value of your truck if done correctly/ paint thickness will remain original, every repainted vehicle can be identified by measuring paint thickness.

Thanks for the info.

Sorry that happened to you! Glad you weren't hurt by any of this, or these devastating tornados.
I was hit with hail as well. Not by this recent storm, but one about a month ago. I had damage on the roof, hood, hatch and doors. I had my estimate done and it was just shy of $7K. Because it's paid off, the insurance company cut me a check for the entire amount, minus my deductible.
I have it scheduled for repair early June. I'll be having PDR on some, but most of the truck will be repainted and the hood replaced

Pending my estimate on Sunday I have the money to pay it off so I can just get the check and do what I want with it.

That's what I did too. My husband is a collision technician so he will be repairing it for about 1/3 of the cost.
